June, 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals

WoooooHoooooo, here we go again!!

For my quilting/sewing plans this month, there are 3 quilts I want to concentrate on. Making DD's 50th BD quilt, the Zelda quilt-along and a comfort quilt for my sister-in-law. I have seen the pattern for DD called Rippling Star and Double Carpenter's Star.....I really don't like it when there are various names to the same design, but it isn't the end of the world so won't lose any sleep over it. She happened to be here and see the neutral checkerboard but I'm still not comfortable in making it queen-size. I'm hoping it was the neutral part she liked the best as that's what I'm basing this quilt on. DH took a picture of what I have laid out so far so I can remember where the colors go. (I just noticed a couple that need to be switched) I'm not quite finished with the last Zelda block and I think DGD wants it for her boyfriend for Christmas so need to stay on top of it. My third project, is choosing one of the tops I have made, sandwich and quilt it for my SIL.

What's on your calendar for June?

I am going to:

1) get the last of my organizing projects finished in the sewing room (I have fabrics to wash, iron, and put on boards)

2) quilt my friend's mom's quilt

3) finish a UFO

My June goals are:
1) Finish the Zelda quilt.
2) Quilt a baby quilt.
3) Quilt the wall hangings for for my kitchen.

I'm hoping that writing them down will keep me on task.

Hmmm....what goals will I set for myself? I don't have anything on a deadline, so it will be just whatever I feel like working on.

I think I'll get the Hunters Star back out. I haven't worked on it in quite a while. It's for our godson's HS graduation in 2016, so no pressure on it (yet LOL).

I'm also in the finishing stages of a hand appliqued wall hanging. I finished the last block on Saturday and pieced the top yesterday. Now it gets appliqued frames around the blocks. There are 24 pieces to the frames; I cut out 12 yesterday and basted the first six in place. It took me about an hour and a half to applique one of them! Anyway, that's my evening project. I know I won't do one each evening, so it will be at least another month before the top is done!

Cannot believe how fast this year is going!!! I did get caught up on Zelda, and I feel good about that. Have decided which quilt top for SIL, it's ready to quilt and have DDs almost half done. I've been able to stay home almost every day and that's what it takes for me to be able to concentrate on sewing.

How's everyone doing with their goals?

I finished designing the last block for Zelda and did practice block that works! When I first designed it in EQ7 I was not getting a 60* triangle but figured out what I was doing wrong. Now on to finish the quilt!

I really want to get back into quilting groove but everything seems to be conspiring against me.

Hopefully, June will be the time to get back at it.

I have so much to do and the year is already half gone! This month I am working on:
1. Quilted Christmas ball ornaments
2. My Son's MineCraft quilt
3. Granny Square Quilt blocks
4. Crocheted ribbon bookmarks
5. Cross-stitch birdhouse bookmark

WooooHooooo........Things are going nicely with DD's quilt, have started quilting SIL's comfort quilt, have 30 9-patches made for an Irish Chain that my niece has wanted for a few years but couldn't find Cincinnati Reds fabric and Zelda will hopefully be worked on tomorrow.

Hoping everyone has found their 'groove' and are sliding smoothly along.

June seems to be more than half over and I haven't set any goals yet! I am piecing a charity quilt, so I would like to get it sandwiched and quilted. If I can get another UFO sandwiched that would be a bonus! Lots of other things going on so I am grabbing any minutes I can and sewing.

Well, I'm making progress on the hand applique. I have to say it's getting boring sewing all those pieces the same color and shape! I may end up taking a break from it before it's done.

I haven't gotten back to the Hunter's Star yet. I think I don't feel like working on something that I have to concentrate on. :) But I pieced one lap-size top and have a twin-size top about 2/3 done, so I haven't been idle.

Only a few more hours and it will be July....WOW! That means we can have new goals........lololol

DD's 50th BD quilt is still a WIP but the top half is all together and half of the bottom half. Zelda is coming along nicely and just have to sew some of the horizontal rows together for the last block called Red Darknut. The comfort quilt for my sister-in-law is in the process of being quilted, but it's all being put away as one car load of kids are planning on arriving tomorrow and another car load on Thursday. Then the hoopla for DH's 80th BD will begin. Late night card games, a seafood night (usually Friday), a day at the beach and whatever else they can come up with. Sure am looking forward to seeing them and giving hugs but know DH and I will both be exhausted by the time they all leave on Sunday. That's ok......we don't have anything we have to do so will spend our days napping. :-)
