You should leave all the leaves & vines on which is how plants store up energy, however you should cut off any little grape clusters so the vine doesn't waste energy trying to produce fruit. Then after it goes good and dormant usually around January/February, look up pruning techniques and prune it good and fertilize. I live in Napa.

Ah thank you, I should have known that & I think somewhere in the back of my mind I did! Last year I let my very tender mango keep it's first fruit. I compounded that with by neglecting to cover it for a quick cold snap we had in January and it just went black :(

Can't wait to prune the vine and for the results of that. I have already found a couple of techniques that I will consider.
