Need help with chandelier

last modified: 11 years ago

Here is a picture of the pendant lights I will put over my island. My table is directly in front of the island, with space for the stools. I am looking for suggestions as to what chandelier might look good near these pendants. My island is an iron ore gray, and my periphery cabinets are white, all shaker style.

I can't get the pictures to load right. The bottom picture is what I have chosen for the island. The top picture is one idea I have for the chandelier. Too different??

I like the glass and bulbs, but not so much the iron work.

I really like that chandelier style (same as or similar to the Robert Abbey Bling)....I think it could go well with a variety of different pendant styles, including the ones you've selected.

thank you for those photo ideas - I know the two don't have to "match" but I'm still worried that their styles are too different to go together. However, I have no other ideas for chandeliers at this point!

IMO, the examples above show pairings of some very different but still complementary styles with a similar chandelier. I particularly love this chandelier paired with industrial or school house style fixtures.....and/or ones with a little more "substance" than glass, ie stainless, black iron/metal, drum shades, etc....to be a little less "matchy" (at least material wise).

Unless you love the chandelier, I might head more towards a different style to relfect your island lighting, if your dining set is fairly casual and your shaker cabinetry. Also I would try to mimic the metals.

My contractors are currently installing my island - I'll sneak down and take pictures of the space when they take a break! I really appreciate everyone's help. There are so many decision to be made along the way (this is a complete kitchen demo/addition/remodel) that I a feeling fried.

Here are some shots of the in-progress kitchen. Table will go in front of windows, under sloped ceiling .

Looks nice, still like your ideas for lighting! ;)

Such a pretty kitchen Amy....I like your contrasting island and your cabinet style.

You're now getting into the really fun part of building a home IMO....where you'll finally start seeing all the finishes you've selected come together (countertops, flooring, backsplash, tile surrounds in your baths, paint.....and of course, lighting! :-)) ....how excited you must be right now!

It appears to be a fairly big dining area. What style are your table and chairs and how big? Seating for 4-6-8?

Alternate choice for pendant...I may like this better with the chandelier above

Great choice for pendants paired with the original chandelier posted IMO

Susan, it will be a farm style table, seating 6-8. Haven't picked chairs yet. I like to mix and match styles, the the chic chandelier, industrial pendants, and rustic table. Island counter will be calcutta quartzite, and perimeter counters are leathered steel gray (almost black) granite.

Your dining area sounds like it'll be fabulous....especially love your ideas of mixing styles with a farm house table.
