Do you need daytime privacy like the sheer panels provide?

No. Now I have pull down shades which are not visible from this picture. We get the afternoon sun, so I pull those down at around 3 when the sun is the strongest. I'd like to keep the room cool in summer and warm in winter and the shades help, but I believe blackout curtains would do the trick, as well.

I think that your idea of Roman shades and panels would be best!

Panels should be in the pattern and roman shades in a solid beige, agree?
