It could be too much water, or a nutritional deficiency.... probably one of these. In my opinion, not enough water on rosemary means... green, green, green, brown. First time gardeners usually over water thinking it will solve problems... It sounds like you have made efforts to give it more water.

Do you water regularly? What's the schedule?

Is the pot in direct sun at all?

What kind of potting soil... do you remember the ingredients?

I've found the opposite is true - that too much water makes them yellow. I do agree with bardamu_gw, though...is it in direct sun? Too much sunlight can scorch the plant.

potting soil--just regular kind, but i added a soilless mix to it to lighten it up and make it faster draining. yes it's in the direct sun most of the day. i'll try moving it to get a little shade. i also removed the leaf mulch to help it dry out quicker. i'm also thinking of taking out some of the potting soil and replacing it with more soilless mix. that's what they grow them in at the nurseries and they let them dry out so much you'd think they'd die, but they don't.

Pinetta, how big is the pot, and when did you buy the plant? What is regular potting soil? Do you mean you bought a bag of potting soil? Was it a brand name? Did it advertise having everything the plant needs for 3 months or was it a bag o top soil? I would not mess with the roots for now. Maybe a few days of part shade could be good until it recovers. The size of the pot, your zone or location, and watering schedule would help to de termine what's happening.

size of pot--about 12" in diameter. bought--about 2 months ago. regular potting soil--yes. brand name--i don't think so, but i've bought this potting soil before with no problems. NOT top soil. thx!
