It is kinda hard to get a layout of the room from your pics? Are you talking about the overhead support ( white box ) that goes on the ceiling from front to back ? Or actual support beams from floor to ceiling?

I think I kinda have an idea of the layout now after studying it for a few minutes,I think the area by the walk out that has the light is calling for a game table and chairs,lower the light some it is too high,the area under the microwave looks like it might have had a wine refrigerator or something at one time,I would remove the cabinet and microwave and use it ( if you need too ) over in your bar area somehow,then I would use the area under where it was for fire wood storage. I think the open tile area between the bar and the slider end is calling for a pool table, you can get different size options to fit.The next thing I think is that we need a better phot of the area where the tv and sofa area is ,I'm thinking that you need to float a sectional in that area and get the sofa off the wall... Then you could eliminate the need for walking around a beam by backing the sofa up to the beam so it won't be in the walkway,you can also cover the beams with timber or even large road ,if you have a kitty cat said kitty will enjoy the room as well ,lol

Thanks for your feedback! Yes- I agree that the pictures are difficult to follow. We don't move in until next month, so I tried to use pictures they have for the listing, and supplemented with the front photo I took while there for the inspection. I agree that the empty built in likely had a fridge at one point. I think it was housed there until the bar area was built, as there's now one under the bar. Would you leave the brick as is- or reface it- or sheetrock over it? For the 'support beams'- it's more of a floor to ceiling pillar- 2 of them right in the middle of the room. It makes decorating and furniture placement difficult.

I've looked through quite a few pics on hours and I think the two starting points are for us to unify the flooring... Either all carpeting or some other surface like tile or wood/laminate. The other big decision is something behind the bar. We're thinking some kind of brick with cabinetry and shelving. Kind of like the attached. I'm stuck on the flooring, how to do cabinets, and a color scheme.
