How is heating and cooling achieved in this residence?

I love the layout, what are the dimensions of the buildings and how much land space does it require?

The heating and cooling is achieved thru a conventional forced air system - it is aided by passive solar techniques such as shading on the southern exposures, thermal mass, appropriate solar orientation, operable windows and cross ventilation, etc.

The whole complex measures about 120 feet by 110 feet - probably needs about 1/2 an acre of land to feel comfortable.

Nick, I have been dreaming about building this house! Just love your work! I don't have your professional eye so would be very interested to see if you think this design would lend itself to a much different climate/setting. I live in Ireland where the light and of course temperature is very different to that of Healdsburg. I attach a photo of a potential site for build, please note a fairly typical grey sky!
