Paint Color for Stair Wall

Question: Should I paint the back wall of the stairway a contrasting dark color to make the stairs and entry way pop? Or, should it be the grey-sage of the wall this side of the stairs (with the cut-out)? All of the entryway, the kitchen to the right and the office to the left is the grey-sage. Thanks!

I'd let it be -- you'd end up having to paint a strange mix of surfaces, including over that doorway and all the way up to the second floor. Is that really the main feature of this space thatyou want to emphasize?

I wouldn't paint it a different color unless you want it to be the star in the space.

My vote is to keep it the same as well. Keep it simple and light.

Do not introduce another color. One way to make your entry pop would be a large colorful piece of art on the wall where the skirted table is now. Stores like HomeGoods are great for that purpose.
