We just moved into a 1961 bungalow. Evidently there had been a bit of seepage in one corner of the basement when there was a major rain. The previous owner/flipper disclosed this and said that the downspouts had not been in place. He put these in place. Plus, he raised the borders around the house as a precaution. The dirt along the wall with the seepage is right up to the ledge where the basement windows are.
My question is: how far away from basement windows should the borders around a house be? (I'm concerned that perhaps the seepage that we've had since moving in - with a major 2" rainfall, simply came through the window.)
