Paint color in interior room, please help!

Please help me find a paint color that will unify my spaces. My living room is in the center of my house with no direct windows. I love the color in my bedroom which is right off the living room and can be seen. I need something to keep the living room light and bright but not too yellow which is the color it is now. I painted it last year and I'm really unhappy and ready to repaint. Any suggestions would be welcome. Also, any suggestions on layout? It's clearly a hard working room! lastly, the dimensions are 17'x11' so not large. thank you!

I can see why you leave the french doors open as they let a lot of natural light in. To be honest, I don't think the solution is necessary wall colour in your space, but rather your furnishings are all some shade of brown. Start by bringing in some of the blue and white like in the bedroom(doesn't have to be an exact match) in pillows, area rug and art. Then decide if you still want to paint.
As far as layout, being such a narrow room, you are limited because you need room for the french doors to swing. Maybe a lower media stand in white or off white could work better.

Do you like Sherwin Williams accessible beige or accessible gray?

This living room is more like a hall (it has an opening on every side), which makes it a challenge to furnish. I agree with MarleneM - you don't necessarily need to paint.

Place a large, central area rug in a colour like this with a large pattern in the middle of the room - I mean really fill the floor space with the area rug. And an injection of lighter and brighter furnishings would really help as well (as shown in this image). Also, you could add some table lamps with white shades and white and blue toss cushions on the sofa, and add bright yellow or tangerine in the decor as well to complement the blues. I would consider changing out the ceiling light fixture as well.

I like both accessible beige and gray.

Apple green is the accent color I use along with teal in all rooms throughout. it's an odd little house but we love it. Our bedroom has that predominant blue with apple green accents. I've tried to incorporate both as accents in the living room but space is at such a premium! I would love an area rug but it isn't practical with the dogs and kid running through the space. I like the idea of changing the lamp.

Ok so I kind of stink at this but used the Sherwin Williams painter on your one pic. In the middle marked AB is accessible beige, on the right marked AG is accessible grey and on the left is one I chose because you wanted to compliment your blue, called Grey Screen ( also a Sherwin Williams paint). It has a hint of blue in it. I think you do need a new paint because you don't care for the yellow. So here are just some choices that may help you decide.

Diane- thank you for your efforts! My biggest fear is making everything monochromatic and I like the "glow" of the AB. I've been looking at Behr sandstone cliff but I'm afraid it may be too greyed out. I'm intrigued with your grey screen.

You might consider going with the lightest shade of the blue you used in your bedroom for your living room. Blues and browns, especially your gorgeous window and door trim look wonderful together as can be seen in your bedroom.

Grayish blues also would look very nice with all the brown.

This room shows a colorful rug, white walls, lots of wood tone furniture, and one coral accent wall with green console. Something to think about!

I love your blue bedroom. so maybe a very lighest version of that. Another possibility is painting the ceiling a version of the blue in your bedroom and then leaving the walls yellow and finding an area rug with bold colors of blue and yellow and putting in a seating area. Like the picture above.

A third possibility is painting the room a warm white for brightness and freshness and accents of the bright green you have in your home, again like the room above but in different variations.

Another idea would be to do a soft soft pale coral with the soft pale blue ceiling. I think all your brown furnture would be a nice contrast to any of these colors. Since you have so many fun colors in this house just keep adding more fun colors?

What ever color you use, please add some fun pillows for floor or sofa in the new color.

I thought this color combination might be similar to what you could do in living room......yellow walls, dark furniture, coral in accents or ceiling or a room at the end of the living room to brighten things up a bit.

soosun2, you have some awesome ideas! While, I'm not usually a fan of coral, I love how the door plays off the yellow walls. In fact, perhaps that shade of golden yellow is what I'm looking for. My current yellow just isn't right.

I see your yellow as 'white'. I love the color of the bedroom. I would go with the lightest (almost white) shade of that color. Add a few drops of it to the ceiling paint as you will not want a dead white there. I love your room. The only thing I would suggest are adding white slipcovers to your furniture pieces, even though you said you did not like the monochromatic, you can add pops of color in the pillows, art glass, children's art, etc. You said you wanted to unify this space with adjoing rooms. I see this as the best way to do it.
