Horrible interior paint job

Just had my small 1,000 sq ft condo repainted with door casings and baseboards at a cost of $6k. The results are absolutely disgusting. I was curious as to the proper procedure that the painter should use. They left spots untextured, drips, cracks etc. He stated on the proposal he would prep, prime and paint. I'm meeting with the general contractor in the morning and would appreciate any advice. I have 100's of pictures of the terrible work. Below are a few.

Thank you in advance!

I think if you have a contract stating all of that is included you will be o.k. ...insist that it is redone to your satisfaction,do not settle for leavening it and getting a discount,if anything have them repair it to standard and give you a discount for your trouble

Not sure if it was oil based but I can't believe that they didn't sand and texturize the paint. I can't wait to speak to the GC in the morning. Sucks because he said 2 weeks turned into 3. He admitted had another job that popped up and priority and then raced to paint town home in 1 day. Unreal.

Wow i'm sorry this happened to you...i hate the dishonest sheister workers....they didn't sand anything it seems, no prep work, no compound. It's hard to sue for this amount because just the retainer fee will be a few thousand you have to shell out and who knows if he has assets, too much trouble and no guarantees. Good luck but please get references (lots) before you use the new guy! I also got taken in by a contractor and it is a disgusting feeling, like being violated. I got references and still got burned so it was my luck and that's that. Good luck again and just finish the job so you can move back in and on with your life. This "painter" will get what is coming to him eventually.

You didn't mention if you had paid in full yet.

By the few pictures you show, there is obviously nothing was prepped. Like others said and according to his contract he should have scraped/filled/sanded everything before applying finish coat. In addition @ $6 per SF you should get top quality prep work and paint job.

Talk to your GC to make it good on it.

    Good luck

If they were licensed check with your local licensing board. I have been through this. In the state of Maryland the home improvement commission has a guaranty fund. You file a complaint and either the contractor makes the job right or has their license suspended. The guaranty fund pays up to $20,000 to the wronged homeowner. Back when we filed our complaint the amount was $15,000. We filed our complaint, the contractor didn't answer, and we received a check for $15,000. Hopefully your in an area that has something similar.

Angel, I have not paid in full yet. I am withholding about $2,500.

Thank Goodness you didn't pay in full. If they did this bad of a job, you may want to see what another painter would charge you to come in and do touch ups. If it is within your $2500, which it may well be, I'd hire another person. Tell the other person if they want their money, meet you in court.

I would ask him to fix the runs,Floors etc and if he doesn't you will write a review of his company on Angies list,BBB etc

As Mia said, thank goodness you haven`t paid in full yet. You now have some $$ to get his poor workmanship rectified.

Take lots of pics and have another painter come in and give you a quote to fix things. Of course get it in writing. Keep us posted as to what is happening and do not give him

any more money, even if he says he will fix it if you pay.

A question i would like to ask, - didn`t you see this poor workmanship going on as things were being done. Because if you did, you should have said something then and there - or perhaps you were away and came home to find the mess.
