I really don't have a tried and true answer for your problem, but whatever you do, make sure the disposal is disconnected from electrical power. Now, if it were me, I would call on my husband to help and solve the problem. If he wasn't available, I would probably unplug my disposal then take some of my long handles, sharp scissors and try to cut the dish cloth into pieces, or maybe a sharp long knife, then try to remove the pieces with tongs. Like I said, this isn't tried and true, but that's what I'd do before I'd consider calling a plumber. Plumbers are expensive!

That seems to be the only thing I can do. I am going to make an effort before I call in the "troops". Troops being my son-in-law who will be coming back from a business trip this evening and shouldn't have to be confronted with my problem as soon as he comes in.

If the disposal is locked up tight use a Allen wrench or the disposal key to manually move the blades in reverse, there is a small hole in the very bottom of most disposals just for this and most have a red reset button next to it

It's not locked up but I have to get most of the dishcloth out before I will try to run it again.

Start composting everything and you won't need the disposal! ;). Actually when mine broke I didn't have a need for it for 5 years. I only put one in when re-doing my kitchen for re-sale value if we ever sell. I still use it very rarely and compost most everything. Nancy
