Is the soapstone counter pictured here treated with anything?

It's my understanding that soapstone should be oiled or waxed, which would give it a glossier finish than that in the picture (and likely darker)...?

    It doesn't look like they are oiling or waxing this soapstone, but it's also pretty dark, so it's difficult to say from just the picture.

    Coming in very late to the party, but it doesn't look like that counter has been treated with wax or oil. Our counters are pretty much that color when we don't have anything on them.

    This soapstone island has not yet been oiled. Once you use beeswax or mineral oil on the stone it will darken. The more you apply, the darker the stone will get.
