I really like them and think the color looks great in your space, but agree that they could be slightly too modern. A barstool with clean lines and black fabric but wood legs would look great in your space. Will look for pictures.

They look very contemporary and your style seems traditional/transitional. The color is also way to stark for your palette.

Design Intervention can you please suggest what will look like nice I wanted to add a little contemporary touch.... The more i research and look more Im getting confuse..., please somebody help!!!

I also plan to have kitchen cabinet straight bar like pulls in satin nickle or stsinless steel finish!

When a client with a very traditional home does a partial remodel or asks for their house to be "renewed" to look more up-to-date, I suggest blending Transitional style pieces with their traditional. It will "update" and make look more contemporary (as in now/ not as in modern) without looking out of place. A stool like the one pictured below has some of the softer traditional lines and brings in the floor color/counter top and the metal is more contemporary without being too stark.

Agree with Depo SD. I think the color and style of the chair looks great in your kitchen and ties in well with the mosaic backsplash. The pendants are a bit too traditional. You may want to consider updating them to some simple and more contemporary pendants in time. Then your kitchen will look incredible.

Thanks Karen for the encouraging words... It really geta overwhelmed!! This is our new built house and furnishing is quiet a challenge. Got stuck with some bad choices and choosing standard building options :(

I like them as well. I don't think they look too modern, but they are modern & have very nice, clean lines. Unless they only come in pairs, I'd usually recommend getting one more. Also, to tie the stools in, you could add some chrome accessories.

I like them. If they are comfy and came at a good price, keep them. They are bar stools not forever furniture.

The stools look great. But, I would install a tile kickplate on the wall under the countertop, afront the stools.

Loved the suggestion above to add chrome / silver pendants to replace the black ones.

I have to agree with Advira. Comfy, good price and modern? I believe a piece of modern furniture could be the start for something interesting. Besides, we could have a lot of suggestions, but ultimately is you who knows if they work or not. Trust your inner designer!

I love the fact that you chose a darker color, but black is too harsh in this space. I also like the stable base and foot rest which adds to the comfort of sitting at a counter. The seats look like they are comfortably sized and the back rest provides support/safety and comfort. My recommendations might include purchasing something with a smoother surface for easy cleaning i.e. gray or brown leatherette. They may look less industrial/office if the fabric and color were different. These color/fabric options may also provide more of a gentle transition between your kitchen and living room/den space.

Try the counter out with the silver accessories from the coffee table, too -- just to see if a chrome bowl or something like it on the island would make you feel as if things are hanging together. I see you also have a beautiful blue toned oriental and blue pillows...

Agree that the black is not too stark and it ties in nicely with the rug in the living room. It seems like you really want to make your home more modern, so this will be a good time for you to make some more small changes that will lead you in that direction.

When we first purchased our home, it was very traditional, and over the years, we made lots of changes to make it more modern. You can have modern furniture and accessoires in a home that has traditional bones. It can work nicely if you do it right.
