LED lights (Yes or No)

Building a new home. I'm having a tough time deciding if I should put in the extra money and do LEDs in the house, particularly on the main floor. I have read a lot of articles including a great one here on house, but there are so many different options and inputs. Thought I'de go to the polls and see where it goes. Would you do LED in your new home?

I would use 4 or 5" LED recessed lights. You should be able to find plenty of bath lights and pendants that take LED bulbs. You could be flexible with dining room chandelier since it won't be used as frequently.

I would work with a lighting specialist to choose the correct amount and type of LED. I just converted several recessed lights to LED, and they were extremely bright, which led us to install dimmers. I think the savings in energy will be well worth it, and I would not hesitate using LED for a new house.

Our new "luxury" apartment building is all LED/dimmable LEDs. Our unit is 1475 sq.ft. and all fixtures are very stylish. Great pendants and cans (not recessed) The light is beautiful, bright and our electric bills prove they make a difference.

Yes, and I would consult with a local LED pro. A lot of electricians don't have the LED knowledge that you may need. Some of it is easy, but sometimes it can be complicated depending on your particular situation. An LED pro would have access to a wider range of products and not just the stuff the local electrical distributor carries.
