We store a filing cabinet and brand new stove on the front porch. We live in an area that farms cows and you can hear them lowing at night. We stored our then brand new fridge on the porch for 6 months, and since it came inside it regularly makes cow noises.

I wonder what noise the gas stove will make when we get it connected?

i keep the gas grill cover under my 26 room georgian dollhouse.

I "was" guilty of storing large glass bowls in the fridge because they took up too much space in the kitchen ( which we have still yet to do ). Why I say I 'was" guilty is because our fridge stopped working and we had a repairperson come twice and couldn't really find anything wrong ( at first ) as to why the bottom half was not getting cold enough. Then on the second visit he asked how often I keep empty bowls like I had at the back of the fridge and I said all the time but not usually at that part of the fridge. He said take them out and wait a a bit and see if the temperature returns to normal. I did take the bowls out and the temperature returned to normal. He said that where they were kept was where the cold air was coming down from the freezer and the cold air filled up the bowl and was bouncing back up and the thermostat would turn off thinking it was cold enough. Once the bowls were removed the fridge was back to being very cold once again. So I don't use the fridge anymore to store bowls haha..

Now tell my better half that we need to get the kitchen finished so I can get some storage space please :)

Hmmmm, I am not a storage person....I even have empty drawers on my side of the dresser.

@Margo sure sure we all know that you have your drawers filled to the brim with all kinds of Moose paraphernalia :)

Well, that does remind me... I do have a Mouzz Antler back scratcher that my son gave me for Moozzer's Day! It has a leather strap for hanging, lol, but not quite sure it is a display item!

Darn, like Cindy, I can't think of anything. I'll come back when something comes to mind. There just must be some odd storage thing I do.

I do remember Hubby used to store cigarettes in his shoe at night. I hated that he smoked and was super b#@chy about it, so for years, he hid his cigarettes in odd places so I wouldn't know. It took him many, many tries but he finally quit.

There is stuff in there, you just have to turn on the leg lamp to see .

I did LOVE that episode of "The Middle". Such a great, great show. I think Sue is one of my favorite characters of all time, but they are all great!

I store all my running clothes and paraphernalia in my car.

Checking the oven for watermelons is my all time favorite. Twenty-ish years ago when preparing for a house party kitchen space was at a premium and someone, me, puta booze inoculated melon in the oven to rest. Someone else preheated the oven without ensuring it was empty. Baked watermelon is not even close to as good as the story.. to this day i still check the oven "for a watermelon" before preheating.

Similar to Margo, I do have a couple empty drawers in a large dresser...just a couple.

Oh...if it counts, I used to have a neighbor who stored all of their cereal boxes behind the toilet in their guest bath stacked 3-4 boxes high. Ewww...

My grandmother used to store her paper bags in her dishwasher. :)

We keep wine under our TV (since our more obvious dining room closet gets too cold). Have reclaimed some dead space above our bathroom and closet as a "hayloft" closet for long-term storage...

@chloebud the neighbour who stored their cereal boxes behind the toilet is one of the most unusual places to store cereal that I have ever heard. I don't think I would ever want to be invited over for breakfast haha...

The shower in the small bath off the kitchen has our carpet cleaner. No where else to put it and the hot water valve leaks so we don't use the shower anyway.

i suspect the cereal boxes dont contain cereal.... rather cigarettes and whisky flask. as, who would ever look in them to see?

Oh...believe me...it was cereal. I saw them pour the cereal then put the boxes back. Actually, this person is, IMO, a hoarder. Dinner plates stacked high all along the walls on the kitchen floor. Long story...but "hoarder" probably fits in this case. She also used her two wall ovens and dishwasher for storage...all packed full and tight.

I DO hide my grandsons bike and/or his basketball hoop in the downstairs shower as it is rarely used. Not just the shower, none of the three are used much! He gets frustrated by basketball and is now realizing that Dora the explorer (the bike) is really for girls.

At this moment I have four saddles in the shower of the downstairs bath....

Mark, lol...pretty sure you wouldn't want to be there for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Lots of stories to tell about that house!

I don't know if it is unusual but I use half the shoe cabinet ( as it has many shelves ) for storing and organizing light bulbs. Works perfectly! Easy to access too.

Never know when you need to replace a heel;)

Our new house has several cabinets in the hallway. One is fairly narrow and somewhat shallow. I decided it would be handy for flashlights, batteries, light bulbs, and a few other odds/ends. Well...duh...turns out the darn cabinet is a "ladder" to the attic.

ummm... I don't have light bulbs in strange places. The only thing in the fridge is food. The patio doesn't even have its own furniture for fear it may get stolen. lol I keep all sorts of limb braces (accumulated over years through everyone's injuries) in a big bedside draw... and i have a mini pharmacy going on a xorner of my cabinet shelf. as to my private chocolate stash... im not telling

Instead of a strong box, my Mom kept all her important papers in an accordian folder in the crrisper drawer of the frig. She said in case of fire, the frig contents wouldn't burn. When she passed away, I was able to find all her papers there. Cold, but all in one place.

I keep all medications in my large bedroom closet. We entertain a lot and it's a pain to put everything in the safe. Our bedroom is off the traffic pattern but I don't want medications easily accessible. Sometimes our friends bring friends of their children and I'd rather take precautions. Because boxes and baskets in the closet are labeled, I have labeled these "Mediocre Shoes."

I store my tools in a decorative chest in the hallway. Easy to get to and no ugly toolbox to hide.

believe it or not I can only think of 1 for me, pots and pans storage. i used to use cabinets, but in my old house i had a relatively low crossbeam and no cabinets, so it was either the pantry or the one cabinet I had in the beginning. i did have a bakers rack and all these big nails hanging out of that support beam. so i hung the big ones on those nails and the little ones on the bakers rack. ever since, I have hung my pots and pans on empty walls I can find in the kitchen. now, I guess because my mother and mother in law grew up during the war, they both had a thing about food. Both packed their ovens full of bread, cereal, and grains. Despite the fact they were in sealed containers. It took my mom so long to empty the oven she only used it on special occasions. all their cabinets were full too. inlaw topped that though, basement topped to the rafters on one side with canned veggies, kitchen spilled into other rooms. Used the microwave to cook everything. Scrambled eggs took like 20 minutes. When my mom built a new house, all children grown. 2 people now, now both ovens are full, and this continued after her divorce 2.

no chook chook, the stove won't make mooing noises, but think of the gas! Oh yeah, and I forgot my little dog keeps thinking the cats should be kept at the end of his nose. lol

lol@Margo. If toddlers can have squeaky light up shoes then why not adults haha.

This unusual storing place for money gives new meaning to laundering money ha ha....

my inlaws live in a posh highrise doorman building on the upper west side of manhattan, but apparently tenants are not expected to actually cook meals, no storage area in the kitchen. so she bought a very lovely armoire for the foyer, a casual visitor wouldnt guess it was filled with canned beans and broth.
