I have a fairly heavy iron and I can't tell it works any better than my lighter weight one. It's also pretty big, which I find unwieldy. I think I dislike the size more than the weight of it. When it croaks I'll probably go back to a smaller, less expensive iron.

I'm just so mad at myself, bcs that Rowenta was going strong. I'm afraid the new ones aren't made as well.

I'm sorry you broke it! I find the expensive ones don't work any better or last longer than the cheaper ones. I hope you find one you like!

I was taught (@ F.I.T.) that it's not weight that presses out wrinkles, it's heat & steam. Go for comfort is my advice.

I really like my Black & Decker w/ a retractable cord - it's pretty light & I love that I don't have to wrap up the cord to store it.

carolb_w_fl, that's useful and interesting! I'm sort of liking the ones w/ better cord storage as well. I'm always a bit amused that more iron companies don't account for cord storage in their designs.

Heat & steam--so I'm thinking that an iron that heats up pretty high, and pretty fast, is my best bet. They maybe heavier.
