MI Windows

Hello,

We were recently quoted on replacing a whole house worth of windows. We currently have dark brown aluminum frame windows and were told to do a vinyl window from MI windows. I'm trying to read up as much as possible about the different types of windows, low-e, argon, etc. and was hoping someone could shed some light to our situation. Is MI a good brand? I'm not finding much about the company. What should we look for in new windows first and foremost? This will likely be our forever home and we are located in North Central Florida.

Any help appreciated.

MI Windows were one of the windows i was shown in the midst of all my research and i was very disappointed to say the least; and that was supposedly their better line ( 1650 series). It feels very weak and is very cheap looking. In fact, if you look at some of the reviews here, they are terrible. None of the Pro's like MI Windows. Although your contractor will probably tell you he never had complaints but of course he is going to say that because thats what his supplier offers.

I went with soft lite but okna, sunrise, and kensington are also highly recommended vinyl brands by all the window pro's. I notice most local" pick up truck style" contractors use the lower end brands such as Mi windows and silverline.

Mi also have a very high air leakage rate which is not good . Stay away and move on.

To get good brands that i mentioned, you need to contact one of their authorized dealers.

MI is a poor excuse for a quality window. They are available to the average "chuck in a truck" contractor which is why he uses them.

Can't add much to that feedback. Not a well regarded product, for good reason, by pros.

Thank you. I couldn't find much information about the product and the website definitely was less informative than other window companies in my opinion. You said it... He said MI windows were the windows he used the most and when I quizzed him about Marvin windows (I saw multiple posts about that brand) he claimed he wasn't familiar with that and would have to get another quote all together. I will call a different contractor today and ask what brand they would recommend.

Our estimate was 11k. I'm curious to see if it will double with a quality product or if the first company was simply taking advantage. Regardless, I'm thankful I asked and for the responses. I will look into the brands Walter mentioned and hopefully the second quote will feel right.

Try looking for a "window dealer" specifically as contractors all tend to deal with the lumberyard/building material supply house and tend to end up with the MI type windows.

Don't buy MI WINDOWS you will regret it! We just spent $30k and got their 'sculpted sdl', What they advertised and what we got was completely different. Deceptive Advertising! The grid they did have on the windows was applied at the job site as they 'forgot' to add them on the order. They were applied by a random contracted company with a razor knife and to say they looked shoddy is an understatement. What's even worse is they are completely ghosting us. Customer service DOES NOT EXIST.
