Thanks Deborah! Looking at your profile, we love the Oak Holllow kitchen! Is there a brand I maybe didn't mention that you would recommend close to our price point?

I have 18 year old Medallion in my kitchen. The doors are solid wood and I just finished refinishing them. However, I wanted to change out a cabinet (microwave cabinet out and spice box / plate rail cabinet in) and found the newer doors were not solid wood on many styles - perhaps they have an upgraded line that does, but not that came close to my door style. I ended up retrofitting my old cabinet to what I wanted instead of buying a new one. I used a spice box from Shrock and was pleasantly surprised to find it was solid wood. I was also surprised on how hard it was to take apart the old cabinet - which I guess says something good about it:) The cabinet sides are particle board, which many will say is not as good as plywood. I would agree, but mine have held up fine.

Of the semi-custom lines we like Shiloh and the options they provide, but they are a higher price point than you are looking for. The Schrock should be a good cabinet for you. It is not bottom of the line by any means and is a reasonable price point. They seem to do a pretty good job with their finishes.

Thank you for the compliment on the Oak Hollow kitchen. Was a really fun project and is our Tour of Remodeled Homes entry this year. The cabinetry was mostly custom in this kitchen.

We installed Schrock a year and a half ago and have no complaints so far.

Do you know if it was the Schrock Entra line or one of their higher end lines?The Entra's standard have a furniture board box (same as the Silverline Medallion, but the Medallion seem to be a bit thicker) and the dovetail drawers are also an upgrade in the Entra line (included in our pricing).

I can't recall seeing "Entra" listed anywhere but that doesn't mean anything. I have since decluttered catalogs and packing slips, it seems. We purchased through Menards. Our drawers definitely have dovetail joints. The sides are solid wood. They have soft close and fully extend.

The dovetail drawer is a nice feature that will allow it to hold up better. But general cabinet construction in this budget will make it tough to find a really great set of cabinets. But good counter tops could help!

I still think in this price point the best cabinets are Ikea so that’s my 2 cents worth in.
