I like a soft green like this. The white upper cabinets / shelves R a plus and popular today.

I would paint the walls in a white neutral like the photo above. Why? I like the pops of color to come from art & not walls. U could choose an abstract art or perhaps U know some children. Frame their bright orange art works in green painted frames.

Thank you olldj22 .I have had white for a while on the upper cupboards and find it a little boring now, could I accentuate with a little orange in the upper cupboard as they have transparent glass pain on the doors? I like the idea of the art though.

I'd recommend a slightly darker toned green and orange. A burnt orange paint would work well with the cabinets I've posted. I think you want to be careful not to go to 70's with your paint selection. Unless you're looking for a modern throwback style.

To finish off the look I'd go with a brushed nickel for the hardware and granite countertops with a subway tile backsplash. Be sure to take into consideration colors of the flooring, counters and back splash & anything else that U R not going to be changing.

U can buy foam board (JaAnn's Fabric) and cut to the back shape of cabinets and paint foam board for touches of color inside cabinet without having to paint interior cabinet. This shows orange pottery in cabinets and looks really good...maybe with a green cabinet back? One photo shows a painted back.

I am told by many kitchen professionals it is best to keep kitchen colors neutral. It seems people tire of the bright colors that R so appealing at first. U have even gotten tired of the white...but it might be wiser to make small changes & not large changes: change the pottery or back color of cabinet for the color change U R craving. Keep us posted.
