Bad experience with Lowes home delivery

We ordered a fridge from Lowes which was scheduled to be delivered on the same day we were moving into our new house. This was after, one delay caused by Lowes, I did not complain too much, because I thought as long as I have a fridge after I move in, I will be OK. We also scheduled to plumber to stop by to hook up the water line. On the day, of the delivery, I called them twice as it was getting towards the end of the day and still I had no fridge and no call from Lowes. When I called them, they seemed quite clueless, after long wait and one lady tells me that they have no way to communicate with their delivery truck, if it were scheduled to be delivered it will be delivered. Seemed like they are not familiar with the technology called cellphone, nevertheless, I keep waiting, since they said it is on its way. At around 6pm, another person, from their customer service calls to tell me that, they will not be able to deliver the Fridge, they will need to reschedule. The fridge was never loaded in their truck and was definitely not on its way, so what that means, the first person I talked earlier that day, simply lied to me.

It was a Friday, and a very hot summer day. I told them I want it ASAP since we don't have any Fridge in our new house. The earliest they could deliver was next week WEDNESDAY. They simply could not fit me in their schedule for the weekend. Needless to say, I was very upset. The cost of the Fridge was 3k+, and they simple did not care about their service. Since we already had the UHAUL truck, we went to the store and picked it up. Even then, they did not seem apologetic at all, seems like this is a common occurrence.

I learnt my lesson, not buying any other big item from Lowes ever again.

Lowes just contracts this stuff. There is no 'service'

It is unfortunate but mix-ups can happen with any company. Contacting the store manager (or corporate offices if not satisfied) is wise but you need to be specific as to what you want them to do to make you satisfied again. We just had a fridge delivered and had great service: arrived when they said, doors adjusted and fridge leveled.

I had delivery issues with my washer and dryer, not as severe as yours. I contacted corporate, who contacted the local store manager. After a discussion with the manager I received 10% of the purchase price back.

In my area delivery is done through the local store.

Thank you for sharing your experience. We did provide feedback to the manager who was at the customer service desk when we went to pickup the appliance. I will make sure the store manager as well as their corporate office gets the feedback.

Both my sister and I had terrible experiences with Lowes delivery. Home Depot has always been good for us, though. I think both stores hire all that stuff out, so I can't really explain why one would be consistently better.

Our Lowes purchased refrigerator was delivered by Lowes employees. They also delivered the DW the same day. We had no issues. I'm sorry you did, but I will tell you that their CS is very good and I would not be surprised if they offered you a partial refund on your appliance or a gift card for the hassle. Just call up there and politely complain to the manager (bees to honey). Not only did we get excellent delivery service, they came down on their pricing by $1500 between the fridge and DW... that's something HD will not do as easily (if at all). I still use home depot regularly because they're slightly closer. However, if its a big purchase I go to Lowes.

I have had a very bad experience with Lowes too. I went in person to order a fridge. I pressured them a little bit to get it delivered sooner than they were telling me because I hadn't had a fridge for over a week, (little did I know), placed the order thursday... they tell me they will deliver Monday. My husband and I take the day off to keep an eye... they call us early in the morning on the day of the delivery to say that the unit had 'some damage', we asked if it was in the front , they say it is kind of cosmetic in the lower back .. it won't be seen ... we accept it.

The truck arrives 4 hours later, the delivery guy makes us go see the fridge in the truck... the fridge seemed to have been dropped. the lower left corner on the back all smashed BY THE COMPRESSOR. Of course we didn't accept it.

we had to wait until the truck got back to the store... they tell us they would give us a call in 24 hours to schedule another delivery... I wait for a day and had to call them... :( then they schedule delivery for thursday, they call me at 7:30 AM on thursday to say that they did not have a fridge for me, only the damage one or the one on display at the store!!! I cancelled the order...

Home depot has been bad too. I placed an order the same thursday that Lowe's screwed up and 5 days later they bring a unit with broken doors, and dents all over.

What is wrong with all these stores? Miscommunication among the employees, nobody takes responsibility, no follow-up, they do no expedite any other after they have a made a very big mistake of trying to deliver something damaged... !!!!

Now we are trying with Best Buy... cross my fingers!

Go to a local, independent appliance retailer, not a big-box store.

that is what I was thinking.

we will give BB a try...

I had a similar experience with Home Depot years ago. I ordered a fridge for my new house and they scheduled delivery for the day before I was going out of town for business (first time they could do it). I asked for a call at work 30 minutes before they came so I could go home and they said no problem. They called, I went home from work (10 minutes tops) and they didn't show up. I finally called and they said the guy had been there and left! Either he called from my doorway or he went to the wrong house. They wanted to reschedule but I was going to be out of town and all the food I had in a cooler would be bad by the time I got back. They offered no alternatives until I basically through a fit and told them to just cancel the order and I would buy the fridge from someone who could deliver it! They were a third party hired for delivery and I am sure they didn't want to have to tell HD they lost the sale, so they sent the guy back out to deliver it. I felt kind of bad for the guy, but they shouldn't have told me they could give me 30 minutes notice if it wasn't something they were able to actually do!

What do you expect? These stores pay so little - that you get what you pay for. You are asking fools to expedite orders - then be there at the promised time - it will never happen. It's really on you for having such bad judgement.

Geoffrey_b - I have had good experiences with other appliance delievery and utility set ups in similar circumstance (asking for a call ahead of delivery), so I struggle with saying it is bad judgement to anticipate that they will do what they say, and what others do successfully. Granted, sometimes it doesn't turn out, but lots of times it does.

That said, where we live now we have found a local appliance and electronics store that truly values customer service. They are no more expensive than the chains but the whole experience is MUCH better. That is where we buy the majority of our large purchases now.

Sounds like customer service these days. Companies micro manage employees and work them like machines and expect them to smile under these conditions. Modern world is clueless to happiness and its importance.

We waited around three times for a delivery from Lowes. On the first alleged delivery attempt, they claimed they had the wrong address, even though I texted my address to the number I received a text message from. On the next attempt, a truck pulled up in front of our house, and then drove away. I was told that this was the delivery truck and because the driver had instructions from Lowes to leave the the dishwasher by our garage, he decided he was not allowed to, and instead of getting out of the truck and ringing the doorbell (or noticing our car in the driveway) he just left because he assumed we weren't home (no one called me 30 minutes before delivery like they said they would, either). The delivery was rescheduled for a third time. Based on the last two incompetent delivery attempts, I called early to confirm the delivery was on its way. I was told that we were stop # 10 and the driver was at stop # 8. After another hour and a half with no delivery, I called Lowes. Now no one can get ahold of the driver, No one is able to verify that the dishwasher was loaded on the truck, dispatch routes me to the warehouse, the warehosue routes me back to to dispatch. I'm told a manager will call me, and no one calls me. I call back again and now I'm told the dleivery has been rescheduled. I spent hours and hours on hold with Lowes, and hours waiting around for a delivery that never showed up. I'm never doing business with Lowes again.

Terrible experience with Lowes. Multiple promises on delivery, but still no appliances. They suck!

I totally agree with you. Lowes delivery is scam. I ordered many things with truck delivery, and delivery date was made 9 days after order, but no delivery arrived, next day one person called me they would deliver my order 2 days after, still didn't delivered anything, next day someone called me 2 days after they would deliver, still.... I called at least 5 hours total, finally I contacted truck delivery department, they said no delivery order they got. Wow, after all, I cancelled all of them 20 days after order, and ordered all items from Home depot, I got them the next day. I'm not saying Home Depot is better than Lowe's, just Lowe's is bad. I ordered two items from Lowe's website, but one item is not delivered from Fedex, is this Fedex problem or Lowe's. So stressful.

what you should of done was demand a refund and go elswhere

I ordered sliding door. Gave me delivery date and time 12p to 4pm. 530pm called ask where door was since I had contractor to install it. They said the manager pulled from truck. Then gave new delivery date a week later. I asked if this is confirmed since I had contractor lined up. They said yes.

Next called to find out time. They said its on truck and will be delivered 8am to 8pm. No door ever delivered. They keep blaming 3rd party they use for delivery. The third delivery company blames Lowes. Still no door

Oh,I can top that! In March I ordered a vanity around $900. I was following per tracking and it stopped. I called the number indicated and the Lowe's rep. advised me she would cancel and I could reorder, which I did. Once again, tracking stopped, called number indicated and once again, it was recommended I reorder. I refused and purchased my vanity elsewhere. Lowe's removed charges for the one vanity. I kept calling and they initially filed a dispute and said I should hear in 90 days. I've called numerous times and was told today that 90 days has passed AND they show that I received one vanity. So if you are remodeling, beware. They say I will need to pay for this!!!

Our fridge blew out with a power surge. We will get a protector next time. Ordered from Lowe's. Paid for installation. The main guy did not install. A list of miss steps, including asking for my tools, and taking a good knife from my block to pry something on top. We have missing pieces. I can't simmer down. It was a supper bad experience. I moved stuff and cleaned area for new fridge. Plastic was left on...seal plastic. It is unbelievable that passes. Is it our times? Is it that incompetence is normalized ? We have wall damage too- geniuses left hardware on to shove through my door. Short guy put fridge on its back to screw feet- not leveled !

I ordered a cabinet, a minifridge and some small stuff from Lowes on-line service back around the first of the year. It had a scheduled delivery date which was getting close and I had not heard from them so I contacted them to ask when to expect delivery. After they fumbled around looking for it, I was finally told I had to pick it up at the store instead of getting delivered as requested and they did not have the cabinet. I specifically requested delivery because I am 78 years old and am limited in the weight I can pick up due to prior open heart surgery. I told them this was unacceptable and after speaking even to a store manager, told them to cancel the order and went out and bought the items elsewhere. Lo and behold, in July, I get notice that someone in the store, without authorization from us, resubmitted the order and we were getting deliivery that following weekend and that they had already charged it to my account. I immediately called and again worked my way up to the manager and told them they were not authorized to do that reorder and to under no circumstances, deliver this order. Then I get a bill for the merchandize from that second order for the goods never delivered so I filed a dispute with their credit card company. After weeks of wrangling with them about the fact that the first order was never delivered and was cancelled and that the second order was not authorized they finally admitted that their records showed no delivery but they were charging me a restocking fee for the 2nd order that was not authorized . They refunded all but about $33..77 claiming this was a resto

cking fee. I told them I would not pay them for an unauthorized order. Next, I received a bill for the same exact amount as this "restocking fee" only now they were claiming it was interest on a deferred interest payment which was still wrong because they should not have been a charge if nothing was delivered and they were not entitled to charge deferred interest if no charge could be made. And today, I received a new bill from them claiming I failed to pay the $33.77 deferred interest fee which was not legal in the first place since this is based upon the 2nd unauthorized re-order and they charged me an additional $30.00 for late fee on top of the $33.77 wrongful fee raising the balance to $63.77 now due so I called them again. As I spoke to that agent it became obvious he was not reading the file as he tried to "school techer“ explain the fee without listening to what I was telling him. When I again tried to explain what was wrong, I told him the fact that I am a retired court clerk who spent 17 years doing contract law and that the charges they were attempting to collect could constitute fraud he finally sat up and listened. They have now filed a new dispute resolution claim which is supposed to wipe out the entire balance. I have since closed my account with Loews and we no longer shop there. My parting statement to him is that I do not do business with companies that cheat their customers and gave him a promise that if I received any further bills on this issue I would escalate it to up the channels and indeed I will. I wlll file a complaint with their corporate offices, the BBB and since Synchronym lists itself as a bank, I will include the bank regulaters. This is a petty amount of money that should have been simply handled the first time but I am retired and have all the time in the world to return petty with petty. This should never have happened in the first place.

I had a contractor from Lowe's deliver a washer last evening. They turned it on and the water didn't run into the maschine. After several tries they called it a faulty unit. Instead of taking it back they left it at my house bc they were tired and wanted to go home. (That was around 5 pm and the original delivery was scheduled betw 4 and 8 pm).

They were very unpolite and did no re install a water shut off I had on my old unit because "I didn't need it".

In the process of hooking up the water hoses, the one guy damaged my faucet to a point, that one part of the top off the faucet broke off and protruded and formed sharp edges. The answer was " you don't need to turn it off or wear some gloves like the heavy duty ones he was using".

He disconnected the water hoses to check if water was coming in and the water seeped out of the hoses onto my laundry floor.

Needless to say, I called the store and they're out of that particular model and can't give me store credit since the delivery didn't take it back.

Now I have to go to another Lowe's who has it in stock to see, when they could deliver it and have to pay there and wait for my refund.

It's really such a hassle and I'm really unsatisfied with Lowe's contracting their delivery service to other parties
