I wouldn't propogate it for my own garden specifically but release it to Europe via Edwin. I suppose if it was a mini then there would be no question cute is good. But then people collect behemoth pines and pungens etc. Yes the pics are just from two angles minutes apart so they catch the light differently and it's frost causing the bi-colour. I'll be visiting it next weekend to collect some scions so will take some summer pics and update this thread. Who knows, a graft may shoot straight up like the species and whatever caused this may not be genetic.

I like it! Reminds me of possibly having the same utility in landscape design as do such items as globe arborvitaes.

Thanks Tom! That's all I needed to sell me the idea. I guess I needed the eye of one familiar with such sizes and shapes. If it maintains it's form (which is debatable) I think it would be good in large settings.

Went up yesterday and am in the process of grafting twenty scions to pinus sylvestris. Good news, it is multi stemmed right from the ground so it never grew a leader from the get-go. If it is contorta, TBC, then wow a new introduction.
