Did you just add a second story?

Very cool house! Love the yellow color.

Yes! We did it about 2 years ago. I decided to share because a friend suggested it. Second stories are tricky because they tend to look so obviously added on, but I am very happy with the way ours turned out! Thanks.

Wow, it looks great. Doesn't look like an add on at all. Love it!!

I do like it! Only curious - was previous a pinkish beige?

It was a paler shade of yellow... before that, I think it may have been green. It's almost 100 years old so it could have been lots of colors before. :)

Once was a hgtv show called IF Walls Could Talk.... something like that.

Wonderful job! You've so thoughtfully added on and kept the original character of the house perfectly intact while adding more space and really making the house even cuter! Beautiful job! I love your ceiling details and the pop outs - perfectly done to avoid that "box on top of original house look"

I'm in the middle of a second story renovation myself - just finalizing electrical and plumbing details this week. We will hopefully have the same outcome of a darling two-story home and are being so careful to maintain the integrity of the original house. Any words of advice for someone right in the throws of it as the experienced 2 year out renovator?

@dalma darling- the only thing I could say is be willing to sacrifice a little bit on interior space for a better exterior product. We gained all the space we needed by going up, but in order to have a more interesting roofline, we have some angled ceilings in a couple bedrooms. We prefer it that way, but it does cut into your living space (head room). Also, spend the money on the windows! I think the right windows can really make the house and are worth the investment for a better aesthetic result. Good luck! I loved my renovation and would do it again!

    Seamless addition - perfection!

I think it looks better than the original... It de-emphasizes the raised basement and everything is in proportion.

    How much did it cost?
