We have a 37 year old home. The gallery style kitchen is illuminated by a ceiling fixture and a window at the end of the room which is the breakfast area. Thirteen years ago we had a dark green granite counter top, pale gray-green slate back splash and tan porcelain tile floor installed. I don't want to change these. However, painting the cabinets seems to be the thing to modernize a kitchen. Presently, they are solid birch, stained walnut. Each cabinet door has a Queen Anne arch panel. The drawers are plain. Although the dark wood is pretty with the dark green counter top and light tan floor, it's just not stylish. Of course, we would need to remove the curvy apron above the sink and possibly the sheet rock box connecting the upper cabinets to the ceiling. The location of this house would not justify spending mega bucks. Should we paint the cabinets? If so, what color(s)? I have looked on line for examples of cabinets with dark green granite and can't find anything similar. Thank you for your help, Mary
