I prefer the Dakota with your kitchen colors.

I vote for the Dakota distressed pewter cup pulls. I think the color & style goes well with your cabinets from what I can see. Maybe another picture of your kitchen would help.

I love both options, so I see why you are having a tough choice. Would you be able to somehow tape them on the cabinet and take a picture of each? Maybe that would help. Also can you show a little more of the kitchen with the island and the hickory floor. Sounds gorgeous.

I have the Revitalize pulls in the bronze color. I do like the way they have a good size arch or deep arch, not sure how to describe. But, it really helps to keep my DH's construction/farmer hands from making dirt smudges on the white cabinets. ;-)

The pulls are easier to use than cup pulls. Since both look lovely, I vote for function.

Yes, that is one of the other reasons we liked Revitalize. I think I would absolutely chose the Revitalize if it came in the distressed pewter but that finish is very hard to come by. I do prefer that finish over the satin nickel. On a side note, I liked the Revitalize a lot more until I put my wedding china in my china cabinets. They have gold around the edges and then it just rather bugged me to see the satin nickel with it. The Dakota pulls look more neutral, but they are quite rustic next to the china--lol.

Rebunky, thanks for the kind words regarding the soapstone. I LOVE it! It is also a 5 on the hardness scale. Those caramel swirls in it are just delicious. My dh was 100% against soapstone until he saw this slab and then he caved as well. And when we found out it was much harder than most, it was a done deal. Here is another picture for you. I still need a backsplash, and on the far left an appliance garage. It is still a work in progress. :)

We just picked the Revitalize pulls in the Brushed Nickel and I love them! Very comfortable and no risk of scratching a ring on your cabinets. I personally think they are more versatile than the bin pulls but both styles are classic and classy! Don't think you can make a wrong choice.

Since you mentioned the gold edge on your china, it immediately made me think of one one my all time favorite kitchens, shanghai-moms. She has the revitalize in the gilded bronze color I believe. Hey, would it also pick up on the Carmel swirls in your soapstone??? Just a wild thought!

Funny that you should mention that other finish--I also looked at shanghai-mom's kitchen and liked that look as well. (Her kitchen is gorgeous!) I don't have that finish in my hands--I might need to investigate it, but the hubby is getting tired of my indecision. :) He wants me to make my mind up.

I have the revitalize pulls and have had them for 5 years now and still think that they are so pretty. My kitchen has off white cabinets with glass doors but slightly lighter hard wood floors. I looked at pulls and cup pulls but preferred the higher relief of the Revitalize. I know that when my hands are wet they won't slip out and when they are dirty it's an easy wipe with a cloth.

I always view cup pulls as a little vintagey for some reason which your kitchen could probably handle and the Revitalize as more transitional.

Blfenton, you have explained it better than I have. Revitalize-transitional, Dakota-vintage. Aside from preferring the Dakota finish with my soapstone, I haven't decided which way I want to go. The rest of my house is also straddling those two styles.

Yea, your kitchen is most definitely not rustic. It is a gorgeous space and having said that the Revitalize for me is just a little bit dressier which I think suits your kitchen as well. However, it's hard for me to really see the colour of the cup pulls. I'm just glad it isn't my decision to make. :)

Dh's choice is the cup pull. I am torn. The funny things we agonize over-lol. I love the function and style of revitalize but the cup pull has a rather homey feel to me and I prefer the color matching. I really don't think there is a wrong choice, but before we put a million holes in my cabinets, I do want to make sure of my choice. Cost is about the same because I will need 8 large (12") revitalize pulls for my drawers and the cost there is about 10x the 6" pull--crazy.

After seeing even more photos of your beautiful kitchen, I still prefer the pull cap. The color of it seems to pull in more of the warm color from the wood island than the brushed nickel.

PS - I love your wood island, it looks a lot like the one which is in my almost finished kitchen!

I think the Revitalize pulls look perfect but I will always choose a regular pull vs a cup pull. Cup pulls are harder to use and harder to clean and provide so many more opportunities for dirty fingers to smudge your cabinets.

I have Revitalize too. I just opened a drawer. Easy and natural. I turned my hand around pretending it was a cup pull. Yuck, and it got worse as I went down the stack of drawers.

I hear ya! :) That is one of my biggest concerns and yet at this point I have always chosen form over function...wood countertop, soapstone, white cabinets, (nothing wrong with each of those items), yet I could have chosen easier and more durable things. LOL I guess my heart is wanting to go with the cup pulls but my head says revitalize, revitalize, revitalize.

Funny I was all set to tell you the revitalize from the first pics UNTIL you posted these last pics with it on the cabinets. The revitalize looks too contemporary for your look and I agree the cup pull is warmer and seems to pull together your soapstone, etc better. I vote cup pulls

I've never used a cup pull but I can imagine how easy it can get funky inside. That being said, I really prefer the pewter finish. I have pewter pulls in my kitchen (Top Knobs antique pewter finish, not quite as rustic as the Dakota looks) and I'm so glad I got them. Darker than brushed nickel, lighter than black, nice definition without being Look At Me. But now I'm attracted to black/darker hardware.

Your Revitalize is a great shape, but not that uncommon IMO. Have you looked for something similar with a pewter finish?

ETA: Your kitchen is so beautiful. Whatever you choose will be lovely.

Thank you both for weighing in! :) The Dakota cup pulls are actually not that pewter imho. They actually have a warm bronze tone to them. I have some Top Knob distressed pewter also in my home and they are definitely pewter/silver tone. I am beginning to think the color is more important than perhaps the styling so does that mean I am progressing? :) If anyone has any other suggestions, I am open.

I think you are progressing, at least in zeroing in on what you like. Clearly the finish/color of the hardware is important. That's progress!!! I would explore more options in pewter and see if that theory holds up.

I lost a long post too, Linelle. Well, the rewrites are usually more focused, so it's not all bad.

I like the pewter color, so I'd keep looking for form and function. In my kitchen, there were two cabinet placement decisions I made for form, and after three years, they are what bothers me the most in using the kitchen. And every night when pots and pans are flying and things are spilling, I am so glad I did not get counters that need babying.

Here are some pics of the Dakota one. I do not have the revitalize but it is also a button knob.

I haven't counted the numbers for the cup pulls but I would just say a lot. :). For the drawers I am figuring 2 6" pulls and I would also have some 4" ones for the smaller drawers. I would go with knobs for all of the cabinet doors.

I'm not sold on the cup pulls but boy do I ever like those Dakota knobs. I like the imagined flow of the wood top on the island to those knobs on the cabinets. I have the revitalize rectangular knobs and while they look great in my kitchen (or so I think) I do like the Dakota knobs in yours.

[OT: I've been having very cranky wifi in my house, so when the Poof! posts happened I thought it was one more thing at my end. Sympathetic, yet relieved, that it's not just me.]

If you would consider other suggestions for a finish similar to the Dakota, maybe look at sand cast bronze hardware (not ORB) -- possibly Schaub, Emtek, Rocky Mountain Hardware.

Your soapstone is lovely, as is your kitchen.

I have looked at the Schaub (which I think the RH Dakota is trying to knock off) and the Rocky Mountain and they are both out of my price range, but gorgeous! I will look at Emtek too. Thanks for the suggestions and the kind words.

blfenton, the Dakota color is entrancing. I am just not totally sold on the cup pulls as well. My builder seems to think though that the button knobs are too small for the large cabinets, but I have seen many pictures of tall cabinets with little knobs.

I just saw a post for cup pulls vs. bar pulls. I think I will have to jump over there and check out what everyone is saying. :)

How tall are your uppers and are they a true stacked - i.e. two sets of cabinets that open separately? or are they one cabinet that mimic stacked.

The lower cabinet is approx 32" and the upper is about 13". I'm not sure if they are truly stacked. There are two sets of doors but they have glass shelving so the light can go throughout.

Given the sizes of the doors and the fact that the stacked ones will have two knobs (one for the bottom door and one for the top) I don't think the knobs will appear to be too small in your kitchen. That's why I asking about the sizes.

I too was going to suggest you look at Rocky Mountain and also Sun Valley Bronze.

I splurged and went with Rocky Mountain, after all hardware is something you see and touch every day, so hardly something you want to settle for less on.

Oaktown is correct about discounts, I purchased my Rocky from our local finish hardware store, and saved 25% off the listed prices.

Honestly, my heart still loves the cup pulls the best, but this is one place where I went with practicality and I have no regrets. The longer pulls have saved my cabinets from wear whereas I’m afraid the cup pulls would have put my OCD into overdrive.

You made the right choice! My widest drawers are 36".. and I can't decide if one long pull (like you used) or two smaller pulls. What size is your widest drawer and what size pull did you use?

My widest drawer is 36" and the pull is considered a 12" but it almost seems like 13" when measured. They are crazy expensive at that size but now it is one of those things that I am glad we splurged. My kids are the ones who unload the dishwasher and having the one pull saves the cabinet. Plus I like the sleek look of just having one.
