Help needed! We live in an old brick and timber loft and we are planning a bathroom renovation with a modern aesthetic. We have identified a few key design elements we would like to include - 72" square double gloss white wall hung sink, gray wood effect porcelain tiles for both the floor and shower base and matte gray (fog) tiles for shower walls. This is the dilemma. What should we do with the wall behind the wall hung sink? Originally I wanted a seamless cut-out shelf using the same tile as shower walls with mirrors or medicine cabinets above. Our contractor tells us the depth of the wall is too narrow to do this.

So I had ideas to use the dark gray tile stacked floor to ceiling or just use a strip of a 'patterned fun' tile (incorporate in shower cut-out too). We have storage elsewhere so that's not a concern. Anyone have any other recommendations. (I really don't want two boring mirrors and accompanying vanity lights). Thanks!
