Thank you! This is what I had in mind as well. The question is where to "start" and where to "end". I.e. how to do the groupings on the walls.

Thanks very much! I will have a large flat surface on the other side of the room for art display and such, and the masks in question have wires/hooks in the back, so I'm really looking to hang them.

I would paint the feature wall and cover the entire wall with them

I won't be able to paint for a while though; the house was just built and needs to settle. I was advised not to paint for a year or so. I would like to cover the entire wall as well. I'm not planning to put any furniture in there, so how low should I go...

We had a lot of masks as well from all over the world and from 3 generations of travel. We placed groupings in different areas of our home, as I didn't like too many together. Then I started to feel less was more and I wasn't appreciating the really nice ones. We narrowed them down to our favorites and have intermixed them with black and white prints from Vietnam and China along with some Native Indian art and I love the look. To achieve the right configuration, we laid them out on the floor and tried all kinds of setups - which is my best suggestion in getting it right and consider intermixing with some art - it's a nice look (I think). Good luck.

I found a console table online that looks really good. Do you think it will work in my space? I'm a little concerned that it's only 31 inches high, i.e. it's not that high, really. I'm planning to put the masks on both walls (above it). Thoughts?

What is the width? What will go on all the shelves? I think a console table without shelves might let the beautiful masks be the "star" of that wall.

The first thing I would do is call an electrician and have the light switch moved - ideally to the adjacent wall, but at least to the right edge of the wall it's currently mucking up. Moving a light switch is not a big deal and the only hole that will need to be fixed is the one left from the where the switch previously was. I truly believe that electricians who put light switches smack dab in the middle of walls secretly hate art.

Books mostly. I also have some small African baskets, giraffes and such (will edit as to what exactly could go on there). The table is 47" and my wall is 62".

deadwest, I agree! I wasn't there when they were putting it, but I wish I were :) DH doesn't want to have anything moved though, the house is just a few months old and he is reluctant to do something like this (yet!), boo.

Lovely room. 47inches is good, will leave just enough space on both sides. Please post when you are done. The masks are spectacular!

Meanwhile I ordered a console table to put in the corner and the masks would go above it. I thought initially that I won't have any furniture in there, but I changed my mind!

The console table looks more like a shelf. I see that you've ordered it so hope it works or that you can send it back if it doesn't.

Thank you, leelee! I hope so too. It's not returnable, so I better love it, when it gets here. I chose a walnut base with the white shelves. I wanted something different looking, as I already have a bench in the foyer with *sort of* similar lines.

My husband and I were having some major disagreements in history, but finally the masks above the console table (and a little beyond) are hang! It was a long process...Not the making holes part, but the agreeing on something part :)

I will take some pictures when the weather is nicer; it's been sort of foggy and cloudy here.
