Looking at you're natural light you should not try to dark colors.
Pick a earth color or a natural color. (Not bright green, red or bright yellow) pick a not to busy wallpaper for behind the bed.
Pick a bed with a natural color. (Withe brown black etc..)
A backboard witch go's 70cm outside the bed in the color of the bed. Pillows and other decoration stuff is always welcome in a bedroom. But nit to mutch. And my final tip is warm color light! This will make it a cozier room!

if you having warm and cozy effect i would like to suggest you friend as you have less speace too so you can use paintings,wall hangings which can be used to serve your books rack,decoration, or other multiple purposes.dont change a color but if you want to so you can use
light blue to have an effect of sky,sea its gives you relaxing feel.while wall hangings collections are given below..

Excellent tips. I do like Treena's advice about using the complement colour of a wallpaper on the other three walls, and we have been leaning towards a blue/grey. But the pattern on the bedspread is abit hard to match. I was thinking silver or grey stripes, but that tree paper is pretty nifty too. Could do something like that with blue/grey walls....

Is you bed reclaimed wood or a like stain? Paint your walls a complimentary warm color and go for similar accents, like the lamps in this pic; add a great oil painting.

It'd paint the wall a nice taupe color and put one of these wallpaper behind the headboard.
As extra, you can complement taupe with purple. For example, the decorative pillows. Add nice white accessories as contrast to the color of the walls. Good luck! Hope to pictures when you're done.

Thanks! I do like the paper with the birds, where is it from? the colour is almost exactly like the bedspread though, might be abit much. We are leaning towards an ivory or soft white for the walls, with possible wallpaper behind the headboard and then using accent colours for throw cushions, artwork. Just have to find the right wallpaper!

It might look like the color is too much now, but when you start to put accessories, lamps, pillows in complementary colors, it will look balanced. Don't forget a nice painting! Or a set of three picture frames above the headboard. :D

I would recommend some decorative drapery panels on a rod to really finish the look.
