Winter Windows is finished

This is a variation of a pattern called Winter Windows from the book Quilting Modern by Jacquie Gering and Katie Pedersen. It is for my nephew and his wife. My sister showed them some modern quilt patterns and they picked this one but they wanted grey with browns, and they wanted the patterned strip closer to the bottom of their bed, not in the middle. They have a gorgeous bed that was made by my nephew's late father who was an architect and furniture designer.

The main fabric is a scrumptious grey fabric. If you look really closely, it's actually a grey and cream plaid with tiny blueish-purple dots, but it reads quite solid, but textured. The crazy quilt blocks are made from ten different fabrics. The backing is darker than the photo suggests, but really cool too. (You can see the actual color of the backing in the crazy blocks.) I love the panto which is called Spilt Paint. My LAQ did a lovely job.

I wish the photos did the colors justice, but they don't, although the close-up of the front is quite good. I couldn't be happier with the results. I thought the pattern would be easy, but it was actually quite challenging. Randomness is always the hardest. I know they will love it.
