Fall garden plans

My seed order from Southern Exposure Seed Exchange came in last week as well as the trail seeds for the UF tomatoes. I get carried away with the seed catalog every year. All of the tomato starts have popped up as well as some Cosmos and sun flowers. So my fall plantings will be;

Arkansas Traveler, Garden Gem, Garden Treasure, Mortgage Lifter & Homestead 24 tomatoes.

The Poohna Kheera Cukes & Malabar spinach and Walters butternut squash have already sprouted and reaching for the trellis.

Edisto 47 cantaloupes, Rattlesnake & McCaslan pole beans, Arkansas Little leaf cukes.

Once the temps finally break I'll plant some Kale & lettuce.

So what do you have planned for the fall garden?

Craig

    Silvia,

    Your transplants are looking good! They are way ahead of mine. Do you grow them under lights?

    The seedlings look great! I have not started my seeds yet...hopefully this weekend I will get around to it. I do have a question. Do you guys follow the UF planting guides closely in regards to planting times? I see that Silvia has Kale growing, which UF recommends planting in September. I have some Dino Kale that I was planning to put off till then unless you guys have had success with it growing a little before hand. My major crop I am focusing on for Fall is Kale and sweet peppers, that is if I can keep the aphids off them.

    Thank you Craig, this year I had them under lights, before I grew them outside in the porch. Now they are too big for indoors so I keep them outside. I bring the tomatoes inside for the night. The porch has morning sun afternoon shade. I am also growing the UF varieties, we will keep notes to see how they do in our gardens.

    I was in St Lucia last week, they have the ideal weather and soil, they were growing bananas for Europe export and at the same time they can grow veggies like tomatoes.

    Thank you buckeyefaninfl, I used the planting guides just as a guideline and then I make my own dates according to the time I have and the weather. I started kale and Oriental greens already because they can take the heat if I keep them in the shade, where I have them they get about 1-2 hours of sun, soon I will put them in the garden after I plant the pole beans. I am not growing sweet peppers for the fall because I have an abundance of peppers right now from the spring season same with eggplants. I just roasted a big bunch of peppers and eggplants, more to harvest.

    I have a bumper crop of guavas and that keeps me busy making preserves, less time to get the garden work done...
