Stainless steel countertops

Are they practical? I don't mind having to wipe them down and keep them clean but do they mark easily? For example, if Windex gets on them are they going to mark? Or 409. I just want to know how delicate they are. And what grade stainless is suitable for a countertop?

They will scratch like crazy so if that will make you crazy don’t do it.

Have had a stainless steel island for about 8 years now. Initially I noticed the small scratches that were left on the once perfectly smooth surface, but now they don't stand out and are just part of the counter. I have not had any issues with stains or marks from foods or cleaners.
