It's a little hard to make out the details of the AKDO tile. If it's not a pattern, could you have your tile installer cut them into subway tiles? 8x8 would be too big for a backsplash IMHO. The color family seems to pull your colors together.

Your kitchen is beautiful. Diagonal or 8 x 8 tiles would not enhance it. I agree with atmarr, if the AKDO tile pattern is not overly pronounced, which they don't seem to be, pick one you like, and have them cut down into subway tile and installed.

Stacked stone as a backsplash is a cleaning nightmare.

I think the Atko tiles are gorgeous. Is the sample at the top and 8 x 8? If so, I think it will look amazing. I've recently noticed some pictures of kitchens with larger square tiles used-they typically have an elegant but subtle design like yours. It gives the appearance of a large decorative ceramic sheet. I would do small grout lines and would choose a color grout that matches the tile. I'm sure the tile store should have some pictures or would be more experienced with whether or not this tile could be used as a backsplash.

Here some other pictures that I had in my idea books where the kitchen had butcher block on the island and a dark stone around the perimeter. Will continue to look for the picture I'm thinking about, though.

Dover white is a beige/yellow color and will show it's color even more when white pieces are placed near it. Alone it can look off white but is not what most would consider white. It is a very nice color. I am a huge S Williams fan and love that color.

If you are trying to tone down the yellow effect choose your backsplash color wisely and place the piece near the wall to see how it reacts.

Heath Tiles also will make any color subway ish tile you want, at a cost though.

Hi there, you have a very lovely kitchen and selecting the right backsplash can definitely be challenging. What if you went totally outside the box? I know of this cork mosaic product that could be really dynamic with your butcher block colors/ tones and pair nicely with a soft white cabinetry. I don't know if you're a wine drinker, but the cork mosaic is a cool nod to loving wine without being too kitsch. I know you can order samples directly from the site...and they are super great to work with!

mbocquet, love all the above pictures of tiles you posted and think you should be able to find one that works perfectly in your kitchen. If you are dealing with a specialty shop, they can always order you a sample....it may take a few weeks, but it is worth it, since these tiles are not inexpensive. However, they are absolutely beautiful and elegant. I love the picture of the fourth sample tile you posted. It may work in your space.

I agree that these along with the first one you picked could work beautifully in your kitchen, and I love that you are not simply going with a white subway tile. Good luck and keep us posted.

I wasn't sure if your were getting my pictures, but I just noticed them pop up. My Houzz as been acting up lately.

I have see the waterworks Glazed Brick and it is very nice. but I agree if choose the AKDO have it cut down (but the labor adds up).
