Soil temperature for direct seeding

Hey garden/farm folks,

I've started direct seeding for fall crop here in Sonoma CA. I seeded some carrots, didn't germ too well, thinking it was probably due to irregular irrigation (my fault). I direct seeded some radishes under four layers of remay. These germed really well. I think ensuring a good level of moisture underneath the remay before putting it down did the trick. I hardly had to water them at all after I put the remay down since it held in the moisture so well.

My question is this: right now it is deadly hot here, air temp at 102 as a high today. For direct seeding fall crop should I wait til it cools down a bit? I wanted to seeds some more carrots, beets, spinach, and salad mix. If I direct seed in this kind of weather will I see poor germination results? When I got good results from the direct seeded radish the air temp was probably about 88. Thanks!
