Need to Furnish New LIving Room

I just moved into a new condo and have little furniture, other than the green L-shaped couch you see in the pictures below. Replacing the couch is open to discussion.

The prior owner furnished the condo this way:

The last 2 pictures in this post are also from the prior owner.

I like that general design. However, I prefer an L shaped couch to the prior owner's setup, which involved two couches. Also, the blue paint color is fine when all the lights are on, but the room generally feels dark and depressing during the day.

Here are my action items:

1. Paint all the blue walls in the living space. I want something lighter, like Benjamin Moore "Milky Way." I'll leave the kitchen color untouched. Here's Milky Way: http://www.benjaminmoore.com/en-us/paint-color/milkyway

2. Acquire an 8 x 10 rug -- that was the same size rug as the prior owner's. I'm thinking of something dark red, to sorta match the kitchen paint. Maybe something like this?:

3. I'm not sure what to do about the dining area. The prior owner, as you can see, had a 3 foot high table with barstools. I was thinking about putting a circular table there (regular height), along with 3 chairs, to have a more traditional dining area. I have previously owned the Lippa dining table, which as a modern feel that I find appealing:

4. The prior owner had a flat screen TV on a stand. I'm thinking about just having a 65 inch TV and sound bar mounted, with the wires inside the drywall, so you don't see them, with no entertainment center. So, all you would see on the TV wall is, well, a TV -- sorta like a theater experience.

5. I need a coffee table. I'd like one with storage. I've previously owned the Tucker Truck from C&B, which I really like, but there is no C&B near me and I don't want to pay $300 for freight delivery!

Thoughts and recommendations welcome!
