    dusting!!!

Unfortunately, I get in an ugly mood when I do housework, everyone heads for the hills. I also have a cottage to clean as well. I would rather garden. If the 'dirt police' are in the neighbourhood, I won't answer the door.

    Dusting the furniture!

Dusting! Absolutely the worst chore known to humankind.

Cleaning baskets, multiple divided small windows and high surfaces like ceiling fans, trusses, shelves, niches or window sills.

I'll do any kind of cleaning before I'll sit down, sort and pay the bills. I despise routine, boring paperwork more than anything else.

    All of the above? :)

    "Other"....dusting.

    I do skip it. Often.

    Grocery shopping.

Well I have 10 dogs that live in my house so I bought a Roomba for garage/work rooms and it lasted a year. It decided to freak out and go in tight circles. So now my least favorites are sweeping floors, cleaning my shower and grocery shopping.

    dealing with paperwork pileup

Cooking dinner - every day, the worst chore by far

only eden because you have not had to eat someone else's food every day for 4 years. That teaches you to appreciate how well you cook, which is how you got stuck in the first place. Most men can do steak, exe did a good salad with a fresh homemade dressing. Hubby does chili that could kill you, steak, and spaghetti. gives me a break. Although I still can not do nightly cooking in winter.

Mopping laminate floors! It is a 3 step process at best and I have a house full of them! BOO

I despise vacuuming. It's noisy, the plug sometimes falls out of the
wall, you have to drag the thing around, if you want to do it right you
have to move furniture to get under and behind it, and then do the tops
of the baseboards and, IMO, the top of the picture or chair rail, the
window sills and tops, and any place on the doors that dust can collect.
This takes a LONG time. And the bag fills up and all the dust floats
around when you empty it. Bleah.

So, I have a Roomba to take care of enough of it to keep the place
looking marginally presentable on a daily basis and a teenager to do a
thorough job every so often-- but I still have to pitch in with it.

What is this "Ironing" of which you people speak?

Who irons? My Mom was an addictive ironer back in the day, I had to forbid her to iron my jeans. As for me, I least enjoy cleaning windows and dusting followed by cleaning appliances.

Yes, my mom was an addictive ironer too, til i was about 12, then it fell to me. But it was still per her addiction. a bed full of ironing, all afternoon on Saturday. Nowadays? I am sure i own an iron somewhere?

My older sister loved ironing. I remember as a kid she could iron for hours. She even ironed our cloth hankies. My dad always had a hanky and my three sisters and I had hankies with our initials on them! Yup, iron and talk….talk and iron…that was my sister!

In a much earlier post I mentioned that it was ironing that I would like to skip...but I have changed my mind..lol...and decided that defrosting the fridge and/or freezer is by far the worst household chore for me...:-)

roxsy, yes i remember all those stupid hankies! Stepfather had a billion of em. Up until i was 8? got a billion every birthday party. Don't even know what happened to them all? glad to see ya!

smiley, does your worst change per what needs doing? lol

    I still have one left.....it's a family heirloom I guess..lol.
I need to get my sister here to iron it. :)

    yep i'd say so!

    Cleaning bathroom floors!

    last modified: 10 years ago

is taking out the trash/making the bed really a chore? wow! Dishes for me I hate cooking and hate the mess, then loading and unloading. I would rather clean the bathroom.

We use grocery store bags for trash that get taken out everyday- yes they're small but I have this thing about garbage sitting there fermenting for days in the kitchen- YUCK!

….and making the bed? you get up you make the bed- like getting dressed- no big deal.

    I like doing laundry : D

Now that u mention it....yes you are probably right....lol!!!

    i had a feeling smiley.

monika - or you get up and shut the bedroom door. well actually, the warmth of the unmade bed keeps all the little fuzzies happy and warm on cold days. that is my reasoning and am sticking to it.

havingfun: I think I have OCD with the bed thing..when my hubs doesn't make it after he gets up I get anxiety and see this:

    :)

oh dear, you must! big dif between that and a couple of curled up kitties! lol

Hate cooking, dishes and cleaning the bathroom. I'd rather clean stalls, the barn or build something useful.

Surprising that many are saying the bathroom. Unless it gets really bad, it is an easy thing to clean really. DIshes on the other hand, are a constant job and probably why I do not like them.

I HATE to make my bed. Wake up on the morning and I leave. No time for bed-making! Also I never clean up the bathroom. Get out of the shower and leave.

I hate mopping floors, actually. Oh make mopping go away!

    All of them!!!!

I really do not like any of them but taking out the garbage is the worst, especially when it's below zero!

Dusting, I have many, many books and photographs...yuck

I hate doing dishes because I haven't found a soap that doesn't irritate my hands.
    Ironing should be outlawed!

Our dish washer has been broken for some time now, so my answer is DISHES! There is a never ending accumulation & it sucks up so much TIME! Waiting for our upcoming kitchen reno to replace it so I have to do without in the meantime, drat!

Dusting or vacuuming. Grates on my nerves and I spend a day dreading it. Now, give me dirty clothes and I'll wash clothes all day long - and love it! (LOVE folding those clothes in Konmari style, too....therapeutic)

I still have a oven I have to clean by hand. I hate it so much. Stupid thing.

    laundry, but specifically: IRONING

I would like to skip ALL of them!!

ok I have had a iron that WE{my husband and I}, got as a wedding gift 39yrs. ago! Yes it still works! And no I don"t iron! Well excecpt iron on patches! So ya I don"t like ironing!

Ironing!!!!!! Somehow I have managed to stay alive for six decades and ironed only a very few easy items. Make me do a shirt and I will skip town.

Preparing dinner late in the evening when I am tired.

Yes!! Changing the cat box .. Ugh!!

    Vacuuming...

Mopping all the floors. It hurts my back.

Wow clearly we need to all work together. I would very happily clean any kitchen and/or handle all of the household laundry if someone would dust my house and clean my bathrooms. Very interesting to read about chores people enjoy that I avoid like the plague.
