I have a 3500 gal gunite Koi pond. The former homeowner had the pool company install the pond at the same time the pool was installed so, it's very much a miniature of the pool without the chlorine/salt. There is a light in the pond exactly like a pool light mounted into the side of the pond. It is run to a nearby electrical outlet mounted on a 4x4 post. Unfortunately, the outlet box is located below the water surface level so if it rains and the pond fills a fraction of an inch, the box floods and becomes inoperable…and probably unsafe. I'd like to try to raise the electrical box about eight inches up the post. I'd need to replace pvc conduit and rewire the box. Am I crazy to attempt this job myself. I'm hesitant to call an electrician because the last guy thought he fixed the problem by drilling a couple of holes at ground level into the conduit. Now, the pond drains through the holes flooding the yard and requiring constant fill-ups to keep water at optimum level in the pond.
