first floor modern dark wood floors

What type of wood will allow for a beautiful very dark brown, almost black, modern and sleek wood floor? Trying white oak but doesn't seem to be going dark enough. Thinking less waves in the wood also, almost monotone color. Need to be able to get the wood for floors in 2-3 weeks. What should we use? please post a picture if you have one also.

Mirage not only is the best quality hardwood we've seen but it has several very sleek looking styles. Check out their website and find a dealer close to you to see samples. Usually the floor can get to you in that time frame however, you will want to make sure to do the hardwood right. It's a nice floor that will need to be acclimated (as any hardwood) and it shouldn't be "rushed through". The better the installation quality is, the longer lasting and the more beautiful the floor will be.

Most come in different plank widths, solid or engineered.

A heavily stained white oak can look "almost black". Maple can take stains especially really dark stains. Although poorly stained maple looks splotchy.

As Koeber's has pointed out, the time frame is "tight" but it can be done. The other thing you need to work out is the "acclimation". The minimum acclimation time = 3 days...the PREFERED = 1-2 WEEKS.

If you need to MOVE IN in 2-3 weeks, there will be problems. If you can have it delivered "on site" in 2-3 weeks and then installation 2 weeks after that...we should be fine.

You may have left it a little late.

BTW: very dark = very HARD to keep looking clean...they show every breath of dirt. If you have a cleaning service or "live-in" help, you will be fine ('cause someone else will clean the floor). If you are doing it yourself, you will want to have dry-dust mops (microfibre of course) hidden throughout the house so you can dry-mop them daily. Purchasing a Roomba vacuum robot is also recommended by people who live with "almost black" floors.

@jbarry23 if you want a monochromatic monotone look try the Rubio PreColor Easy followed by one of there 2c plus oils. You will get exactly what you want. There will be a cost. Hire a pro who's really really good with Rubio. Lots of trades now predye,then stain to get that look your after including cabinet makers,finish carpenters,stainer painters.
