I would put a mirror or art above FP. And yes your furniture appears to be just lined up against the walls. If you want to send dimensions, I can try a different arrangement for you. Also which wall is which and how wide openings and doorways.

Great layout some fresh furniture would really help freshen up, also the red rug is making the room darker, I suggest a lighter rug such as beige or light brown!

That new layout is better...................Love the walls. I think the furnishings can stay as is. I would replace the wreath with the painting, change out the valances to drapes and change out the rug to something much lighter.
