Master bathroom.. fail! Need help!

We are redesigning our master bath and have run into a big problem with our design.

Along one wall, we have a toilet all the way to the left, 72" vanity in the middle and the door to the bathroom to the right of the vanity. Because our vanity is so long, it edges up against the door and leaves no room for sconces. So, we'll have to do overhead lighting -- which I hate because it is not flattering. It also leaves little room for the light switch and a control for heated floors in between the vanity and the door -- so now we have to move one of the switches outside the bathroom door! We also cannot have a very wide mirror.. We've been told it cannot be wider than 20" otherwise it will be too close to the door.

Is there anyway to salvage this? Our contractor insisted that 72" was the right size for the vanity.. It should have been much shorter to leave more room to the right for light switches and lighting.. It's a custom vanity.. I can't return it.. What do we do???

I will try to upload a picture.. but if anyone understands what I am trying to describe, please please please help!

Thank you!
