We have a slightly sloped area in front of our home that we would like to make into a sitting area but are not sure what to do. The redwood beams are terracing the ground from coming down towards the house. We were thinking of pea gravel of stones there, something that could be easily removed if the irrigation lines broke (controls are in the boxes towards the back in front of the house). It's a weird shape so we don't know what materials to use or design to do there. Something simple and drought tolerant (we are in No cal) would be best. There is a giant Douglas fir right there so we are limited to what we can do (no fire pit for example). Thanks for any advice!!
