It could just need more time to get established. When first planted, many plants take time to settle in to the new conditions by putting energy into growing roots and some foliage. You actually want them to put their energy into plant support first, so they become strong plants. The hybrids mainly bloom in the spring, but Sunset states that the white and yellow-flowering abutilons tend to be the ones that are more year-round blooming.

I'll just have to wait and see. My experience with abutilons is that they are flowering machines, which is why I planted it there. It's on the edge of a patio that has the BBQ and table so i wanted something with some visual interest.

Falcon is right. Its growing too fast to bloom. When the roots catch up,it can then grow and bloom. I had a potted red in full bloom,take about three years to look like that once in the ground- 5x as big ( eh,a estimate!) by then.

You might try fertilizers for blooms.

Eventually,I think a healthy plant will get its equilibrium just right.
