I Found another one that is cheaper , but it's not wool.

Would the wool rug work better and last longer than Polypropylene rug in a living room area?

That is almost like the rug from Target with the bad reviews, so we do like that one!

Here is the thing....how much traffic will this rug get if it is just under a coffee table and in front of a couch? It is there for beauty, warmth, color, but not necessarily for foot traffic like other places might be.
I don't know much about rugs and their longevity. I do know that wool rugs have been around a long time and will last for decades, but because of their higher cost, and because I'm allergic (no sitting on the floor in shorts) I haven't considered them for any of my spaces.

It's probably worth it to do a little research, and see what people with them, have experienced.

I have experience with both wool and polypropylene rugs.
We have polypropylene(olefin) rug in the bedroom and my mom has one in her livingroom and they are holding up pretty good but they are VERY DENSE.

Lower quality wool rugs are usually shedding and they wont stop shedding and they usually have lower number of knots .
So in the end you get what you pay for.

@abbyjean- yes ,that area gets moderate amount of traffic. The main concern is if it will wear well and I would have no need to dispose of it in a few months.
@solraven- I thought wool rugs are hypoallergenic .
    @sondramartina - thanks

OK ,found another wool that I like and its cheaper than the other wool shag rugs.

What made you decide to change up everything? Love the new drapes also. Whatever happened to Jayme? She was with you the entire time.
You just need some pretty pretties on the coffee table.....a tray, magazines/books, plant, candle....that sort of fun stuff.
Hi Bevballew....I have not been on much lately, LOL

Thanks Bev!! It's going well...He is an expert finisher and it's going great guns right now. There is a definite learning curve & I am very thankful for my previous business experience (and my husband's talent). This is not for wimps!! Here's a pic of some wooden garage doors he recently refinished for a customer.

What type of dinning table and chairs would best fit the space?
Will you show the space you are thinking about? And how many people need to sit there daily?
    last modified: 11 years ago
    @abbyjean- at least 4 seating....
    The dinning area

How about we start by playing with what you have, unless you just do not like it anymore and it does not work for you. Wondering if you can turn the table the other direction to free up a little chair space by the wall???? I realize the table needs to stay under the light. The walls needs something to cozy up the space and balance that great piece in the living area. Bring in the color from your drapes. I think the table will feel better when the wall gets done. I was wishing there was room for a small narrow console on the wall, but not sure???
@abbyjean- The table was positioned that way ,there's an office in the closet and to create space I position the table like it is now . I was thinking of getting a round table that goes with the style of the living room .
    last modified: 11 years ago
Do me a favor.....open the closet doors and set up that space as the office instead of two chairs facing doors. OR include the chairs at the table, so when the office is not in use, they have a place to be and are a real part of the room.

I am just not sure there would be a huge difference in the space, going from an oval to a circle. Maybe?
@abbyjean- that's how it's setup , but the chair can't hold in there. So as you said I have to include the chairs at the table. The shape of the table is not the only issue , but the style of it.

I am curious....and maybe snoopy....but also wondering if this could help with the decisions......can the doors STAY OPEN and the office be a part of the room? Or is it something you want to shut every night?
Are you thinking of a round pedestal table? What color do you see working? What color are the kitchen cabinets?
The door is closed when it's not being used. The cabinets are espresson , I was of glass , black , white or some natural might work. Yes , I have being looking at pedestal tables - what do think of the ikea docksta or cb2 odyssey.

Gorgeous Jayme. Just gorgeous. If I needed a garage refinished I would hire you guys. That is awesome! You will do well!

If I were to choose one of them, I would choose the CB one. So similar, but I like something about this one more.......and it is advertised on here.
@abbyjean- I actually like the pedestal of the ikea docksta better.
Funny....the tops are the same, aren't they. You have studied these so much more than I have, so go with your gut and love.

@abbyjean- yes ,the tops are the same.
we will see if either get chosen. .still looking at other dinning table.
