Lisa, I am currently at Lowes, do you remember the brand or name or style of your backsplash? It is the first one that I have fallen in love with?

@staceyhobbstally I don't!!!! It had no distinct markings on it, I do know that. It was marble...I remember that much because I was surprised to see that the material was marble because I'm not a "marble" person. Let me see if I can dig up my receipts. My house is still a disaster!

Yeah!!! They look great!!! We went with collonade in the kitchen and a darker version in the dining room. Mindful was our second choice!

Has anybody seen the granite that is called "Baltic Brown"? It has black, grey, brown and is speckled looking. I got that for my counters years ago when that was the cheapest piece of granite I could afford at the time. As time has gone on, I HATE it---but I have to keep it---too much to replace. If you are familiar with it, and remember it, please tell me what colors will go with it for painting my kitchen---or cabinets. My cabinet color 'fights' with it as it is a completely different shade of anything in it and my cabinets are solid ash. I'm tempted to paint them, but I have a total of 56 cabinets and drawers, so that'll be a job!! Thanks to anybody who has any ideas. How about painting my island a different color?

great kitchen. i think the first samples are way too blue. in the second samples i really think #1 is the best and most neutral. thanks for sharing.

looking into the color grey owl by benjamin moore. its really nice and you can lighting it up a bit to give your kitchen a more cooler feel.

The second round of samples are much better! I like #1 and #2, but #1 is probably my favorite. Sherwin Williams Repose Gray is really light and might look nice, as well Grey Owl, which was mentioned above.

I love your kitchen floor - is it engineered wood or laminate?

I vote for #1, Collonade Gray in both rooms.

Unless the color difference you're noticing is about the kind of and/or amount of light the wall gets, and since the colors are looking different, you may need to begin with a really good white base coat for coverage of whatever other color(s) exist on the wall before you paint your walls any color, especially when painting with a lighter color.

Try shades of purple be bold!

beckyhorner630---you didn't mention the color of your cabinets. How about using black...be dramatic and takes the focus off the counters

For those asking, our floor is actually porcelain tile. We also got it at Lowes but didn't use them for install. We used a different flooring company (OC Flooring) that gave us a much better price for demo and install. We are extremely happy with it. The pattern is random and we went with a dark grout to get the wood look. We had 1100 sq ft of it installed and I'm happy to report, I'll never replace the floors ever again!! What a mess!

I am not liking blue or grey with the color of the backsplash. I would choose a light taupe.

Lisa-I'm an Interior Designer and my kitchen has very similar finishes. Your marble looks to be the same as mine except a different pattern. The taupy grays are best for this marble. Mine looks to be SW Anew Gray. Another good choice could be requisite gray. Of the gray color samples, I like #3 the best. Good luck!!!

I am so over the gray. Go with an almost white teal color or a coral. jazz it up. Add rugs, towels flowers in like colors.

@sandradclark I would love to but my husband is pretty opinionated and isn't letting me go too far outside the lines on paint color. Blueish was his idea and I'm very thankful it didn't work. I am throwing orange in my kitchen where I can. He'll even go so far as to switch out the towels though. Baby steps. :)

You have a great neutral palette. You can always change pops of color when you get bored. Much easier than re-painting. I've always loved orange and gray together! You'll have to post a pic once you've finished (:

try BMoore Pale oak it is a gray with tan/beige overtones. Nice kitchen!!

you can also go with sherwin williams modern grey color because it changes with the lightning. its has a beige and grey tone.

I love gray. There are so many accent colors you can go with for towels, etc. I love yellow/deep reds with it. Flexible and pretty choice imo.

Lisa, what a lovely kitchen! If you haven't yet made your selections, I would vote #1 for kitchen and #4 for floor. Would you be willing to share information on your cabinets and flooring? I hope to have a kitchen much like yours soon!

Lisa I continue to find myself very intrigued by your dilemma. In response to your 2nd set of paint samples my answer has evolved. Initially I preferred #1 followed by #3 and immediately disliked #4. The more I looked at your pictures though and realized just how small an area you are actually painting #4 has really grown on me. Normally I don't like dark walls but in this case you have so many white cabinets I think you could get away with it. The darker color would make the cabinets really pop and looks like it would coordinate with your counter. So unless you have a large barren wall that you're not showing us I vote for #4. Please give us an undate when you finish.

Ok, so if you'll excuse the messy kitchen and not so great lighting (it's dark here), I've just finished painting my dining room. Swiss coffee on the wainscoting and dorian gray on the top. Kitchen is still up in the air. I like #1, hubby likes #2. The family and dining rooms might get #3. We are still going back & forth on that one. Hiring professional painters for the rest. Dining room about killed me!! Kitchen is a little bigger than my original picture on the post. I also have an eat-in area that is not pictured. Kids doing homework and they didn't want to be in the shot! ;)

@fedshops Kitchen was done by Lowes. We have KraftMaid cabinets. Shaker style. Floors are a porcelain wood-look tile also purchased from Lowes. The info on the flooring is on one of the comments above! Have fun designing!!

stay LIGHT!! Number 1 is my choice. Also Behr- Barren Plains- is a color suggested by a designer on Houzz and it goes with EVERYTHING! Check it out inline...nice kitchen!

That color is simply pulled from your backsplash. Take that to the store and select some chips that coordinate with the tile.

We used Stonington Grey by Ben Moore in our kitchen. Love it!

Lisa---definitely check SW's Modern Gray and Pediment. Both are lighter than your current samples. I've attached a photo to show color with similar splash, and dining room Dorian Gray. Hope this is helpful. :))

Essential Gray by Sherwin Williams is really pretty and would look great with your countertops, backsplash and cabinets.

Sorry for the poor quality photo, but this color is my all time favorite gray. It is Benjamin Moore's Revere Pewter and it is rich and gorgeous. My countertops are a "brown" gray quartz, and my island is Roma Calacutta marble (again, a marble with no blue gray...more of a golden brownish gray). This photo doesn't do the paint justice, but I had to share.

My favorite are silver strand, seal salt, oyster bay or mindful grey from Sherwin Williams.

What is the name of the flooring? It's very pretty!

i have used kelly moore ow5 cotton bowl in every room of my home for the last 20 years. they still have the formula on file somewhere, but it is great neutral for any room warm or cool. for me it depends on the light reflected from outside, time of year, time of day, location and average weather. it is much easier to change my accessories than paint my rooms at this stage of my life. this is the perfect color for my location but may not be good if i moved accross town.

I find mid-tone blue- grays to be quite dreary unless they are directly adjacent to a color that has a lot of yellow in it, like your warm brown floor. If it were me, I'd do a chair railing to make your dining nook feel cozier: with your darkest blue on the bottom and your lightest on the top 2/3rds. When I tried to add a coral accent to warm up the blue, I found it too busy. Sorry no photo, but I haven't owned that condo with similar colors for over a decade....
