Sorry, I think it's too deep. Since it seems you have a light switch or such, you can't drop the picture down. SO perhaps a taller and less deep piece. It is lovely however.

I think the table is fine but whats throwing the space off is the frame hanging high over the light switch. You could consider a large canvas set on hinges so that you can "open" it and reach the switch and then close it. Or you can use several small frames in a gallery type setting and that way you can come down farther on the wall. Or lastly pay an electrician to move the switch for you :(

Yes, it's squeezed a bit but I love how the curve makes it nestle into the space without pointy corners which you could bump into. I think the problem is that you don't have anything on the unit now and everyone is looking at the space between the top and the picture frame. Is there an outlet behind this unit? If there is, I'd put a nice lamp here and some decorative object beside it. A small box with a lid that hinges back would be nice for keys. It could sit in the middle. On the right would be the lamp. On the left would be something taller, midway between lamp height and the height of the box. It could be a flower arrangement in a fairly solid container, or it could be something sculptural.

I agree it could be a little less deep, but it will work. Just follow the suggestions mentioned regarding the wall space above it. Moving the light switch would be best.

Can you put it at an angle so more of the wall shows on the left side? Post some pics of different size angles.

I don't know how important the print is to have at the front door, but the demilune chest is much to big. I would suggest nothing at this location, however if you have to have something there, a demilune shelf table with a small arrangement or plant and the framed print.

Thank you for the photos. Can you angle the console, so the back of it is at an angle to the wall? Not so much to be in the way of the entrance, but enough so more of the wall to the left of the console shows.

And just take the frame off the wall for now. Do you have a plant, or statue, or basket to add with the bowl?

I think the picture/frame being too high throws me off. How about a wreath with the light switch in the middle with the wreath around it? Could change with the seasons. Otherwise...two long narrow vertical pictures.....or a long vertical mirror on one side of the switch and two small pieces of art work on the other side. Then you could decorate the top of your console....the bowl you have and some candle sticks or a plant since you have light there...lots of things would look good there.

Can you angle it a little more and still get in the door? Angle it enough to cover some of the wainscoting. Promise to not see the dust, really, but that frame is not working.

You can not put it on an angle. Angling only wastes more space.
You need a smaller piece there with a taller sculpture on it. Can you use it on another wall where it some breathing room.

Okay maybe if the frame is gone the console will work the way you had it. Or can you return the console and get something else?

Unless one of those double, closet doors has a stopper attached to the hinges to restrict the swing of the door, the console would like be hit, yes?

I like it there :) You could bring your frame over here too and it still fits under the doorbell box. If you still want something by the door you could just do a few hooks on the wall, a coat rack, or a plant.

It's not bad there but is that where you need a catch all surface? Seems like just inside the door makes more sense. So show us the guest bath with this console and find a smaller table for inside the door.

Walls will be painted...maybe light color accessible beige or Navajo white?

Ok,I think it's perfect in the bathroom! Hang a great piece of artwork over it ( low please) and it's a perfect place for a box of Kleenex or whatever.

The only way it wil look better if you make the entry way into the living room small! Put it in your bathroom where it looks perfect!

This is very modern, but the idea is to have a floating shelf built or found in an antique store as picture above.

Pier 1 might have something like this but smaller scale. Decorate accordingly.

Lol, I didn't think anyone was going to like it here. I'll leave it here for now since my arms are sore from pushing it around. I'll look for artwork to hang as well. Thank you for all your suggestions and opinions--it helped me so much!

I like it much better in the bathroom, but do you need it in there? Sometimes less is more. Can you return the table? It just is too big for the space.
When you posted the photo showing your full front door the table blocked your beautiful wood molding around the door. Instead of a table, how about a beautiful rectangular Persian rug for your entry. The rug that is there appears kind of small from what I can see.

Also I would have your electrician move your light switch down and way over to the left. Why do electricians put switches in the middle of a wall?

Oops on more thing, then a Persian rug runner down the hallwa., I would not put the table by those double doors, not the right scale for the space, plus not functional with swinging doors.

Agreed SandyC. I can't return the table. I purchased it a while ago. I'll look into the Persian rug--should I just pick a design with the same colors as the entry or that flows with the colors through the house?

They don't have to be the exact same pattern. Rug dealers will let you try them in your space. So have fun, bring a few home and see what you like. Your floors are spectacular by the way. I have floor envy! Keeping the space uncluttered without little pieces of furniture, let's your floors and carpets be the stars.
If you get the light switch moved, one large piece of art or a grouping of mirrors would be pretty.

Way, way, way to big for that small section of wall inside to the right after you enter. It makes me think of my grandmother sitting in a theater seat - there was absolutely no way that could be turned into pretty.

i do love the table though. It's terrific in the bathroom, or on the longer wall in the hall, but please don't angle it where it is. A good handyman can move the switches over and create an outlet close to the baseboard so that you can have a lamp someday when you find an appriopriately sized table. if I were going to create a grouping of mirrors as suggested I would go back to toggle switches and get a fancy switch plate which would blend in with the grouping. Make it an object d'arte.

Also, I had a similar problem once and I placed there on the floor a beautiful brass umbrella holder. A small shelf like thing with hooks below the shelf on which to hang keys, and some kind of art work above that. I can't remember now. I love my brass umbrella holder. When I have guests they simply fold their umbrellas and stick them down into the holder. The shelf idea with hooks allows for more than one set of keys to be hung there. You might do something creative above it like a shadow box displaying a collection of antique keys.

I like it better in the guest bath. Don't clutter up the front entry if you don't have to. Is this where you usually enter the house?

I would suspect this is not the door she uses every day to get to the garage, bring in groceries etc. A rack for keys and stuff maybe would be best by the back door/ garage door. I would keep this area clutter free.

I agree with several of the comments here. I would say: No the scale of the piece you picked it to large. Definitely go with something in a smaller scale (a lot of the suggestions on here are good). If the smaller scale piece could be on the taller side that would be best. If that's not possible the one that floats on the wall would work. If you go with a smaller, but taller table, I would add a long skinny feature like a Candlestick lamp to tie in that massive space between the table top and the picture frame. And as for the picture frame, it's not the best scale either…I would go with the mirrors or something circular or oval above the table that can sort of float down closer to your new table (what ever you choose). I didn't find the perfect example of what I am suggesting…but here's a few that came close:

Smaller scale, but see what the tall slender lamp can do for the space between the table top and the mirror? I would go with a candlestick lamp (even longer and skinnier) for your space.

You might want to go with darker furniture, but the scale is super close to what I think would work for your space.

This size table is not that different from what you have, but for your space I don't think I would go with this big mirror…but you flip this arrangement around…meaning…you could scatter the smaller mirrors around your light switch area (use 3M picture hangers to you don't risk getting a shock)... and again, add a taller lamp and maybe a small bowl for keys and such and it would look really nice and still be functional.

Something similar to this…but with more than 2 mirrors ( I would use 3 mirrors)

Play with it and have fun. What feels the best and actually works for you will be what works in the end.

PS That table you have is really beautiful! I am betting it would look great just about anywhere (in a hallway, den, dining room, living room, bathroom or even kitchen). It's a lovely classic piece. I am sure you can find a lovely spot to showcase it.

Albeit that is a nice piece, it is a bit large for the space. If you really wanted an electrical outlet, that would be no more than a 15 minute job for a good electrician. There is power in the wall at the switch. Straight down for a plug or straight down and over to catch center of the wall and you have your lamp.

I really like it in the entry a lot. It's very handsome. This is probably some giant faux pas but I would put a tiny oil painting above it
