what can i do to these kitchen cabinets?

in real life they are a baby poo green/brown color! Help! can not stand it any more. What color can i get away with in this kitchen?

    The contrasting island color is very popular right now. How about painting cabinets white, add pretty glass knobs and incorporate French blue in window fabrics and accessories. Your island base can be painted the French blue you like.The white cabinets are classic and transitional and you'll get the blue in the island.

    Who said distressed blue cabinets cant be done? I've seen pics of beautiful kitchens on Houzz. Search blue kitchen...

      Do you want it to blend with nearby rooms or rooms that are open to it? I can't see the color of the floor or the countertops. What color is your backsplash? Close up pictures would help. Do you want to just add another color and keep some of the color that's there?

      That depends. Are you going to keep everything else the same? Your picture is kind of dark so it is hard to tell what color the floors, wall, and backsplash are. Can you take some more pics?

      backsplash,counter and floor are all the same tile. really wanting to change the color of cabinets. I WANTED to do the French country blue distressed look but have been told that i cant happen and yes i can post more pics

      Look at the Rustoleum Cabinet Transformations system, it is inexpensive and easy to use, it is available at Home Depot, but look at some of the colors on line, I like "Russet" for your kitchen..here is the link http://cabinets.rustoleumtransformations.com/colors.php

      Hi there is not much light coming in as i could see from your picture i do kitchens every day i have just signed up and i see i could make a big impact. maybe its best to redesign the kitchen like changing doors only and creating some color and life in to it flouting shelves and i could go on and on but im in cape town so i don't know were you from thanx Junaid Taliep

      Yes, alot of beige. at least white cabs freshen up kitchenand work with french blue preference. Brown cabs just add more blah in the already beige kitchen. if your budget allows, replace counter/backsplash/ floors.

      2. Distressed cream with darker blue island. Change some of the doors to glass. This would look good with oil rubbed bronze finish knobs/pulls. French blue wall. Notice how nice the drop lights look over the island.

      3. Another suggestion is to go with espresso base cabinets and Latte wall cabinets and island. Use brushed nickel knobs/pulls and latte uppers

      I would rather see you go with a latte color than with a stark white with the surrounding beiges. I think it would look much warmer.

      I like the distressed blue. Did the person who told you it can't be done tell you why it couldn't be done?
      If it is about the finish that is on there, Bulleye has come out with a great primer for shiny finishes that is great. In my house the wood work, cabinets, everything! was painted oil based peach. I have used this primer and so far so good. Do not use liquid sand paper as it can affect the finish of the paint you use.

      you people rock! i think i will go with the distressed cream with the blue island. as for light , there are 2 other large windows that are behind me when the pic was taken. THANKS for all the suggestions! it might be a couple of months but we will def post after pics

      One more thing. If your cabinets are oak, the grain will show through any paint. To avoid this wet the wood, it will make the grain stand up, then sand it. After that you will get a smooth finish. Good luck, I look forward to seeing your pics!
