I think it is quite beautiful. Perhaps you are simply not accustomed to seeing the pattern of the floor. The veining on your tile is not nearly as intense as this marble floor. Very classic selection.

No, you made a good choice. Marble was not uncommon in upscale 60s homes and it's popular again today, so it's a win/win for your renovation. You're only noticing the pattern because the floor is the only element in the room right now. There isn't even baseboard or wall color, much less furniture. As others have mentioned, once those items are in place, the floor will just be one of the many components. An area rug in the entry can also help break up the pattern, if desired.

I agree. I use this tile a lot and it looks great in every room! Think of it as a great backdrop...although it makes a statement on its own. It's like a basic black dress...perfect alone, but also great when accessorized!

You were wise to go with the honed porcelain as it is low maintenance and not slippery. It's classic and classy. I would also put an area rug in the entry. It's always nerve wracking when you see part of an installation, but it sounds as if you are in good hands.

After you've installed, you may find
some water-prone areas (such as entryway/hallway due to outdoor elements
brought inside, or kitchen due to everyday spills) especially slippery. When

I also agree. You hired a designer so trust in their ability. I find that client's often second guess their decisions once renovation begins. The pattern of the Calcutta tile is a more traditional pattern as it mimics natural stone, but it is being used in a very contemporary way with large tile and a straight lay, not the traditional offset. It should be beautiful. Post pictures when everything is complete.
