Advice on Kitchen Cabinets

Hi thinking of remodeling my kitchen.Would really appreciate some advice on new kitchen cabinets. Not interested in repainting,refacing or floating shelves....There is a budget of course. My contractor said "get the 200$ basic cabinets at Home depot but googled it and most say its overpriced garbage".... Love ikea's kitchen but closes store is far and it seems very complicated.... going to check out some local stores too but would really appreciate some advice! Thank you

ps I have 15 cabinets in total.

My husband is a kitchen designer and sales rep for a quality cabinet company. Absolutely find a designer who can show you their style and what companies they work with. Local home improvement stores are most of the time not too vested and their knowledge base is low. Posting a pic of your current kitchen would help. Cabinet brands - there are so many, most designers have preferences but overall hard wood not laminate over plywood but real wood. I love Ikea too but those cabinets are the same material of the garbage at many places...overpriced low quality laminate and not real wood.

First, post a picture of your current kitchen? Second, a contractor is not usually a kitchen designer or planner, he's the technician who installs cabinetry, appliances etc. Before you decide to "replace 15 cabinets" EVEN on a budget, make sure you have the best possible layout. A local kitchen designer, even if that's someone in a good kitchen /bath store near you, can help before you simply buy cabinets.

Hi Jan Moyer,thank you for your quick response! Will post pic later.Lay out of kitchen is U-shaped and lay out is good and will stay the same. Just wondering if you can recommend any brand of cabinets that look nice ,are durable and not to pricey....

Brookhaven makes a very nice product, they are a division of WoodMode cabinetry, with a more moderate price point but very nice quality as well.

We used Conestoga Wood Specialties all wood RTA cabinets, assembled with finish nail gun and glue (about 30 minutes per cabinet, contractor could assemble if needed but negates some of savings).

Even with two 34" wide pantries with 10 ROTs, 40" fridge surround, four 30" drawer bases and lots of trim (18 total cabinets), our cabinetry was only $13,000. Nice big box brands with same specifications (all wood, Blumotion full extension soft close drawer glides) would have cost $10,000 more.
