Can't decide between light gray and dark gray sectional

We live in an open concept townhouse and are looking to buy a sectional for our living room. It is open to the kitchen which has black cabinets, white subway tile, and light gray countertops. We have medium stained hardwood as well. Our entertainment center has a dark brown/black look as well. We are between a dark gray and a light gray sectional from Haverty's and I honestly cannot decide which one to buy. Link to sectional The two color options we are between are the colors of the 4 ottomans (dark gray/light gray) as the one in the photo isn't actually gray. I believe the color choices are called Java (dark gray) and Mineral (light gray). I want to paint the walls a light gray as well eventually... IS THIS TOO MUCH GRAY??? Thanks in advance!

Since you have/like good dramatic contrast in your kitchen, since your floors are med. vs. dark, and since you'd like to paint the walls light gray, I would suggest the darker gray sofa accompanied by light throw pillows and a light area rug (and possibly a glass-top coffee table) to break the darkness between the sofa and ent. ctr.

How big is the living room. That is a big sectional. I do not recommend a sectional in condo living. I assume you are in FL? Would like to see pictures of your space. I would go with a sofa and 2 chairs. Yes, in my opinion too much gray. At least with a gray sofa you can bring in some color with the chairs and accessories.

Sectionals are thoughtless design nightmares. They can usually go in only one spot in the room. They dominate and suck the style out of spaces. I agree with a sofa + (2) chair combo.

It sounds like too much gray. Is your heart set on that particular sectional? A navy blue sectional would look great with your colors.

Have you carefully measured your space? Can you post photos? That is a humongous sectional, almost 12 feet!
Afraid once you get it in your condo you won't have a good traffic flow or room for anything else. A much more streamlined sofa and two chairs may be better choices.

I would also suggest bringing color in through the pillows, rug, and artwork/accessories.

Photos and a floor plan would be the best way to evaluate whether a sectional is best and, if so, the size. A sectional can be a nice option for cozy seating in some spaces.

Here are photos of our living room, kitchen, and the floor plan (sorry it's a little fuzzy, it was the only one I could find). We currently have the entertainment center on the left wall and have two large couch and loveseat facing the tv with the back of the large couch open, if that makes any sense. We also have two large dogs is why the sectional is so appealing! We live in Kentucky and this is our first home so we are very excited to get started!

The love seat is currently in front of the windows. So they are already in an L shape formation.

What are your condo room measurements? There is a big difference between an L formation loveseat and a huge oversized sectional.

Audrey, I'm currently trying to decide about a gray sectional myself. I'm curious what you decided to go with and if you could post pictures. We have a few things in common. I'm also in Kentucky and have 2 large dogs and 1 small dog.

The Java color choice looks brown to me, not gray.

I believe the color Java commonly refers to a dark coffee brown.
