Jennifer, Yes, 9-patch in the corners. Since the fabric is directional, I had to keep watch when making the 9-patches and 4-patches for the borders.

Bossyvossy, if you can sew, you can make a quilt! Really! You're just sewing seams.

Sharon, really cool quilt. I should make some Minnesota Vikings quilts for my stepsons who are such avid fans. Maybe one of these days, but not if they keep playing like they did last Monday night.

Donna, I found the fabric at Over the Rainbow's online catalog. It's 60" wide but does shrink a bit. If making this pattern, you could probably get by with 2 yards with only 9 rows and maybe doing something different for the border.

That is just fabulous... you are very lucky to have someone hounding you to make them a quilt.... I'm sure she will treasure this for the rest of her life.

Bossyvossy, For the size my niece wanted, she bought 2 1/2 yards and there is very little left over. I reversed the order of light and dark as she wanted the red as the focus fabric. This one is approx 54" X 78". I based the pattern on the pattern at this site: Irish Chain ........made it 2 rows longer and changed up the border. If you have any questions, anyone here at the forum will be able to answer them. We're all willing to help. Have fun! Very easy with rotary cutting and strip piecing.

Yes, glassquilt, I did! I really had to think about it when doing the 9-patches so it took a bit longer than just making it normal. Fortunately, the white is Kona and could be used any which way. lol

My fantastic longarmer has it now and is working her magic. :-)
