Need help on exterior shutter colors
I need help with selecting the right shutter colors for my house. We are putting shutters on the two lower left windows and also on the second floor window with the stone. Any suggestions? We are also open to front door colors too. What about a grey color?

11 years agoI would be tempted to use the darkest warm brown showing in the stone up in the top peak. Is that your door colour? I like the first photo, the lower shutters are three panel for visual weight, the upper storey shutters are two panel. I would investigate the 2nd storey window to see if proper sized shutters will fit the space without looking crowded.
I agree with Toby Grossman's comment above, they need to be sized to close over the windows or don't bother. Adding metal hardware looks authentic and rich, see the 2nd photo. You have a beautiful home, it deserves the full treatment!
If you go with brown shutters, change out your door colour to suit your interior entrance. I like the look of a front door colour being on the front and back of the door. What is your colour scheme inside your entry?

Country Club Drive, Long Island · More Info- 11 years agoInterior is neutral colors (grey, blue, green, dark walnut, beige). See photo. Right now the interior door is white. I have also attached the stone color. The dark color popping out looks like a brown-purple color.

Shutters would not be appropriate on the window on the bottom right. Shutters should be sized to cover the window (whether they are operable or not) and they will be much to small to cover the triple window. If you do decide to do them make them as wide as possible.
In terms of door colors you could go with a dark burnt orange:
a turquoise shade
a teal
or a pale yellow.
Since the house has a lot of brown going on use the door to add a pop of color and draw the eye to that area.
